I got the update. Some things look a little different, but I really don't see any huge differences. Maybe I'm just superficial?

You now have rich notifications, so you can respond to a text/email from the notification line (and actually read the whole thing now!)

You can expand your notification center quick action toggles, so you aren't limited to just the 4 or 5 (depending on phone size).

New downloaded apps now appear at the top of your list of apps (swipe right from home screen), so you don't have to go searching for those *new* apps.

Home screen background image is now fully immersive

I don't know if they added this, but there were rumors that tiles would now be able to go 2 down, as well as 2 across to create larger 2x2 square tiles???

The Spartan rendering engine was incorporated into IE, so webpages should open quicker and more accurately.

That is all I can think of right now. I know there is a lot more under the hood changes

I'll give it some time and see if it feels different. I guess it's hard to say because I really don't use it much.

Do you have to pay for the $19 account? When I go to the preview app on my 635 I get a message saying it's for developers. I created a free dev account when I downloaded the Windows 10 preview on my computer but it doesn't seem to be letting me download the preview on my phone unless I pay $19.

ETA: I downloaded Windows Insider and setup the phone for preview updates. There's an update that downloaded and is preparing to install. Not sure if it's 10 or an update to 8.1. It seemed pretty small so I'm assuming it's 8.1.

No need to pay anything, not sure where you're getting that.
The update to 10 is pretty large.

I think that's the normal dev price if you want to create apps. I saw that and later realized I was going about it the wrong way. Now I have my phone setup for dev updates and I'll download 10 in a bit when I go home for lunch.
