Unfortunately it doesn't helped :( After whole night it was ok, but after short brake in last 2h it's back - and I can confirm by "Intel Power Gadget" that "GFX AVG" is now 0,2GHz (not as previous 0,75GHz :/ ) So disabling PowerNap doesn't help :(

How I've left MBP for whole night?
- charger connected to MBP but not connected to AC (so I can assume that it's disconnected)
- connected with DP and turned off external monitor (by DisplayPort)
- connected USB cable with some devices
- I've chosen manually "sleep" from menu and closed internal display

What was the state when problem appears?
- everything like above
- everything turned on
- Mac went to sleep automatically

Well that's disappointing. The next thing Im looking at is ram usage when I experience the slow down. It could be related, but restarting and ignoring it the easier fix unfortunately :\ I did submit a bug/feedback through the Apple site. Hopefully it does not fall on deaf ears.

Interesting. There's definitely a lack of "snappiness" here, but I'm experiencing slowdowns that go way beyond that. Like, I drag my cursor along a line of text and the selection highlight actually takes a while to catch up -- which is insane. And then as I mentioned I restart and all is back to normal... until it slows down again.

I'm messing around with Etrecheck now to see if anything pops up. Might do a clean OS reinstall at some point, though, since I've been doing updates to this same install for a few years now and there might be some cruft built up in the corners.

Go into System Preferences then "Accessibility" "Display" and check the box "Reduce motion" I found that helps.

I'm sure it would help a bit, but what's puzzling here is that when I first restart things are quite normal for a couple days, maybe more -- and then they start to slow down. I just end up restarting every week or two as a maintenance thing, which is irritating. Maybe Big Sur will be better...

Because everything else fails I'm trying something else:
- My mac is on AC power all the time
- And I disabled option "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" on tab "Power Adapter" in "Energy Saver" preferences
- I turned PowerNap option on back again

So I need to click manually "Sleep" button whenever it's needed :)
It's in this configuration at least for 2 days (don't remember exactly when I've set it, but not earlier than my last message: 10th October 12:05PM) ??maybe it'll help

And because of other topics and pointing out this problem with GFX 200MHz instead of higher value: "Intel Power Gadget" it's best way to check if Mac is healthy (have parameter GFX AVG ~0.75GHz) - of course this will be different for mac with additional graphic card (don't know exactly how it can look like)

Update for 16th October ~1:00PM: still without any problem
Update for 16th October 5:40PM: .... it's back ... f***...

From upgrade to BigSur I haven't seen this issue... but I will believe that's ok after let say 2-3 weeks without an issue ;)

Hi guys! Anything new about this? 2015 Retina MBP with dGPU here and facing the same issue. I've realized if I manually force the laptop to use dGPU, it works flawlessly, the problem is that sometimes I just want to use iGPU (for example while I'm using it unplugged) in order to save battery and this is a nightmare.
It's okay knowing that if you restart the Mac it is temporary fixed, but it's not the supposed behaviour for a machine like this...
My workaround last weeks have been forcing to use dGPU, but it isn't also the best somebody can expect.

I'd like to hear you! Take care!

So I did solve my problem with this, but it was a quirky solve and has worked 100% for me.

I noticed that the issue occurred the most if the computer went to sleep while the lid was open aka a gradual screen dim, then eventual lower power state. All i did was change the setting for adaptor and battery to not go to sleep for an hour, so it would never hit that 'lower power mode' unless i closed the lid. so far it was worked great! no slow down or need to restart. I've even had it wake up normally after it eventually went to my screen saver and eventual actual sleep. Hope that helps!
