S4 Scratchgate? Some are reporting that the SS sapphire displays are already showing scratches.

These are people who never noticed the micro scratches in the coating. It happens very quickly so not surprised.
Not an issue.
People need to stop posting these "#gate" threads every time Apple releases a new product its getting old.
Oh, ok. Just scratches on the oleophobic coating? Can they be removed? Does the same thing happen on the ionX glass?
Edited to add this public service announcement: If you want to be taken seriously and have a discussion, don't add "-gate" to little issues that one or two people are talking about. Most people are going to react just like I did.

I would forgetting trying to remove as it will accelerate the coating's removal. These micro scratches can only be see under certain lighting or bright sunlight. The ionX actually will scratch if not careful.

Yeah because someone wouldn't intentionally try to scratch a display model and then post to reddit... No way that would happen...

No, they cannot be removed. The only thing that you will notice if the oleophobic coating scratches, is they can slowly fade away, because the oleophphobic coating is naturally organic that will dissipate over time touching the dispay, but will have some variable visibility.
I think I caught it on a stainless steel hand rail. Unsure if it’s scratched or behind the glass.
Yeah I mean to me it looks like a scratch but if I run my nail across the screen it’s smooth so it would indicate a crack.
I know the crystal is laminated (2 pieces). Maybe it was a hard impact and the section underneath cracked, but not the surface layer?
I have looked at everyone of my Sapphire Crystal watches in bright light. I dont see a single micro-scratch. Apple cant call something Sapphire Crystal if its not going to perform like one. I would be quite upset to see this happen at all let alone in such a short period.

I didn’t think the glass is coated, I think it’s just the Stainless Steel that is coated but only the Space Black and Gold.
But maybe I’m mistaken..
however, if they’ve coated the sapphire that seem rediculous.
