Thank you. Here is the BUILD number from someone on Apple Communities that installed today's 14.1 version, but for Mojave:
Version 14.1 (14611.1.21.161.7)
Does anyone have the new BUILD number for Catalina? Did it change from xxx.5 to xxx.7?

urbanracer43, did a new Safari update show up for you in Software Update today?
Yes one did pop up now. I'll have to wait to do it.

Here is gdyson's post from Apple Communities:

"I just installed today's release (on Mojave 10.14.6) and it is
Version 14.1 (14611.1.21.161.7)
and seems to be working fine on all the websites I checked that were crashing the previous 14.1 release.
Why the stealth mode on functionality, who knows."

Just FYI for you... and good luck with the revised update. Let us know if it addresses the issue and the new BUILD number. Thx

I do have confirmation from jdmcmurtry at Apple Communities that the Catalina BUILD change went from:
15611.1.21.161.5 to 15611.1.21.161.7

This is the build number of the Mojave Safari 14.1 I got from MacUpdate which replaced the buggy one that (I assume) Apple pulled. Running Mojave on a 2010 Mac Pro.

Version 14.1 (14611.1.21.161.5)

Checking for update on Apple tells me there is a new Safari. Here we go again...

The Mojave version I got from MacUpdate to replace the Apple one that was super buggy (and pulled?) = Version 14.1 (14611.1.21.161.5)
Software Update just downloaded = Version 14.1 (14611.1.21.161.7) - the things that were broken seem to be fixed for me at least.

FWIW, here's what I posted at ASC yesterday… [link to original; also quoted here]

On Catalina (v10.15.7)…
  • the build version of Safari 14.0.3 (before the 14.1 update) was 15610.4.3.1.7
  • the build version of Safari 14.1 (buggy update, released Apr 26th) was 15611.1.21.161.5
  • the build version of Safari 14.1 (corrected update, released May 4th) is 15611.1.21.161.7
On Mojave, the build numbers for Safari 14.1 are the same as above, except that they begin with 14 rather than 15.

Detailed info about the security content of each of the two Safari 14.1 updates is available at the following links:
Note that the description of the latter says that it "includes the security content of" the former.

More info about this issue is available in the content and comments of the post "Apple has pulled Safari 14.1 update for Mojave and Catalina" at Howard Oakley's wonderful Mac tech blog, The Eclectic Light Company.

Build number on Catalina for newest update is Version 14.1 (15611.1.21.161.7, 15611).

And I just tested one of the sites I was having problems with. Worked right away.

Does anyone experience reduced search capability in the adress bar? Before the last two updates, I could write rumors in the adress bar and it would suggest macrumors from Preferences. Now it does not, I have to type macrumors.
