Usually something like this:What does Show details say?
people tried on clean install of OS and still crashes, what the maintenance you talk about? From @kenm22's post #4 on May 16, it was obvious that this is not a Safari/macOS problem, but a user configuration issue.
At least consider trying to troubleshot the problem:
- clear Safari's cache from the Develop menu (⌥⌘E)
(Develop menu - Safari - Settings – Advanced - Show features for web developers https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/ibrw1075/)
or by deleting ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/Caches
- run OnyX - maintenance – Cleaning Internet https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html
- run Safari without extensions by uninstalling them, not just turning them off https://support.apple.com/102343
- Turn off Hide IP address in Safari https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/sfri35610/ and Private Relay https://support.apple.com/102022
- “clean Safari” AppleScript https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/safari-issues.2354917/post-31383169
Read the mentioned post, it doesn't happen on a new user account.people tried on clean install of OS and still crashes, what the maintenance you talk about?
then why dont you make the "cleanest install" and prove your theory than just bla bla blaRead the mentioned post, it doesn't happen on a new user account.
If you "clean install" and use Migration Assistant or Time Machine to restore your data, that's not a clean install.
Since they were released, I’ve been running Monterey 12.7.5 and Safari 17.5 without any crashes.then why dont you make the "cleanest install" and prove your theory than just bla bla bla
link peeking feature and dismissing peeked links works at your safari without any crashes???Since they were released, I’ve been running Monterey 12.7.5 and Safari 17.5 without any crashes.
I have updated to Monterey 12.7.6 and Safari 17.6 without any issues or crashes.
In post #40 @Woof Woof has identified what appears to have been the cause in his case.
Good luck waiting for Apple to fix your problem.
link peeking feature and dismissing peeked links works at your safari without crashing???I am curious if those of us having the crash issue have something in common outside of the Safari version (17.5+)? For example do you have a VPN client or network tool like LuLu installed? I also have WIPR and the IINA safari extensions.
Safari is crashing on me even when not using the VPN, so I initially eliminated it as a cause. I did notice there is a persistent daemon that is running even when not connected, so I removed my client (well, zipped it up) and force quit the daemon, and haven't had a crash in Safari so far.
I do also have LuLu running in the background to keep an eye on what apps are trying to connect to the net.
I don't even have 3 finger tap gesture enabled. I never use it.link peeking feature and dismissing peeked links works at your safari without crashing???
thank you
Both #4 and #40 that you referred to are inconclusive.Since they were released, I’ve been running Monterey 12.7.5 and Safari 17.5 without any crashes.
