I have a 15 Mid-2015 MBP and not seeing the 4K option on Youtube/Safari! This was working during beta. Can someone share if they have the same experience?

Try - Developer menu - Experimental features - WP9 SW decoder on battery (on) - Web RTC WP9 codec (on).

I can play 4k Video on Youtube.
However for Netflix, I can't play 4k streaming, upon I checked it via Cltr shift option D.
It said my agent/client is still Mac OSX 10.15.6, while the playback bitrate is 1080P.
Any idea?

I just checked and it works fine on my MBP!
I didn't know Youtube HDR was supported in new Safari until I saw this thread!

Yeah, just saw this in another thread. Seems our brand new 27" iMacs aren't playing 4k Netflix (and some YouTube). Anyone getting 4k Netflix? I haven't upgraded yet.

It’s the choice of Google or Netflix whether to deliver 4K or higher content to your computer running Big Sur. They can flip the switch on and off for a number of reasons.

4K works but no HDR. For Netflix 4K support you need the T2 chip in your Mac. That's all.

I didn’t see “W”, but “V”. Admittedly, I’m a novice and don’t understand some things. But I turned on the “V” version, and am able to play 4K on YouTube! Thank you so much!!!

Netflix is playing 4K. It just takes mine about 30 seconds to get there. My internet speed isn’t super-fast, so YMMV.

May I reference your developer Experimental feature menu please?
I want to play 4K Netflix on my T2 Mac.
Thanks!

I'm now able to play 4K Youtube on Big Sur Safari by selecting the Web RTC WP9 codec option in the Developer Menu. Netflix is still not streaming 4K. It is streaming HDR at 1080p. I selected Web RTC H265 Codec. This had no effect. I have a 2020 5K iMac with a T2 chip. Can anyone with a 5K 2020 iMac running 11.0.1 watch 4K Netflix through Safari?

My Netflix is working. It just takes 30-60 secs for it to ramp up to that. It starts at 720, then goes up from there. This is a crummy photo of me playing Lost in Space in 4K. Didn't know what info is sensitive, so I redacted a little bit. Overly cautious, I guess. Anyway....
