Chrome has cloud syncing, and runs on all platforms. I have not tested it, but it should work as advertised.
I am using Safari since v 3.x and never felt like using anything else. I would suggest you spend a week with it and see for yourself what works better for you.
Chrome does not have iCloud support and never will. Thats what people are talking about. If you have iOS devices the addition of more iCloud features in Mountain Lion is fantastic. Makes it really hard to not use all Apple devices which is of course Apples intent.
Googles cloud offerings in general are amateurish compared to what Apple is offering.
I prefer Safari and the new version is very good. Smoother and faster. I use Reader a lot and the Chrome version which is some extension is not nearly as good.
Plus I'm really not interested in Google tracking everything I do through Chrome.
I see why people like Chrome and I've tried switching multiple times but it never works out.

Therefore speaking only for myself, I'm interested in speed, efficiency, usefulness & stability. I don't care who makes it
I don't see anyone saying they care who makes it. Looks like all the Safari users have specific reasons for using it over Chrome.

I love Chrome on Windows (except for the most visited page, which has become useless due to Google not allowing you to customize it anymore...why it needs 3 links to my email is beyond me), I just can't like it on OS X. There's a certain lack of polish to it--small inconsistencies with the rest of the OS that make it less nice to use. It does have a few features I wish Safari had, but they're not enough to get me to switch.
Agree, I use Chrome on my Work Windows laptop but its' not as good on OS X. Surprising because all you see at Google are Macs for the most part.
