This actually happened pre-Ventura for me on certain devices, but it's definitely a problem now after updating to Ventura (MacBook Pro 2021 M1 Pro) - certain website either won't load, load extremely slowly (minutes) and/or load incomplete (missing parts). Weird thing is that they load fine after closing our Safari completely. No difference using private browsing (no probably not a cache issue), they work fine using Chrome (not a network or outside-oof-browser issue), and work fine on other devices. I have no extensions loaded, no content blockers. I've cleared the cache and history, no improvement.

An example is espn.com -- it flat out won't load after the first time visiting after opening Safari. It'll just sit there, blue loading bar sitting halfway across, with nothing happening. Oddly, it works fine on my other Mac (MacBook Pro 2021 M1 Ultra) on Ventura. Even sites like reddit don't load properly all the time (icons load as empty squares, site just sits there never fully loads)

Anyone else having this issue?

EDIT: After a lot more tinkering, it looks like it was the "Hide IP address from trackers" setting that was causing this. No idea why it wouldn't affect my other Mac. It's too bad that I have to disable it.

This is enabled by default, so if this is a Safari issue, there should be floods of complaints. I don't really use Safari on macOS, but just went to espn and reddit and both loaded with no issue with that setting enabled. M1 Mac Mini macOS 13.0

This is happening to me too, driving me insane!

Safari Tech Preview release 156, and Safari 16.1, both on Ventura.

Some websites don't load at all, like aliexpress.com. And many half-load but get stuck trying to load .js, like reddit.

And yes, it's the "Hide IP address from trackers" in Settings > Privacy, that caused this.

I don't get why that causes such an issue with most websites..

Same behavior here.. after the update to Ventura some websites won't loading. Reddit and others for examples...

If I disable "Hide IP address from trackers" it works.

Weird how it's only happening to some of us. There'd be widespread outcry if it was more common, with sites like ESPN and reddit not loading properly. What's unique to us? ISP? Network settings?

Thank for the resolution, which worked for me also. Interestingly, after I unchecked "Hide the IP address from hackers" and successfully got the system going, I was able to check that feature again and the system is still working!

This is happending to me too. Sometimes Safari is just stuck loading the website with a perpetual loading bar. Chrome on the other hand is instant.

I tried to order some train tickets one time and Safari stuck in loading the payment gateway! As a result I lost my seat selection. Darn it. I thought it was the website's issue until I tried Google Chrome. Everything is instantaneous.

It's driving me crazy.
I've always used Safari on Mac but now this issue is forcing me to switch to Google Chrome.

Confirmed that unchecking this option fixed the issue.
Thanks.
So it must be some problem in iCloud's Private Relay service.

Hiding IP from trackers and iCloud Private Relay are two different things, not related to each other.
Anyway that fixed the problem for me but I don’t feel comfortable having to disable that setting.

I am really glad to find this conversation. I am having the same issue with webpages loading and turning off the "Hide IP" instantly fixed it. It was driving me crazy after installing Ventura. The odd thing is, webpages do not hang while on my iPhone's hotspot with "Hide IP" engaged, only on wifi does it behave this way. MBA M1 2021

Sounds like it must be a setting in your guys' specific networks (something in the router or maybe on your ISP's end?) that's causing the issue. It might be worth calling your ISP and seeing if they have any insight.

Thank you for the reply, and I understand the point. However, this problem only started after upgrading to Ventura. The problem started immediately after the update. No problems with the ISP prior to the update. Not sure why there would be a problem from the ISP side that would have just coincided with the update.

Yet many others, as you said, are not experiencing this with Ventura, so there's obviously something else going on that Ventura is not playing well with.

Very true, it is difficult to pinpoint the issue since it is only some of us. Is anyone else on this thread on Comcast Business?

The same thing is happening to me since Safari 15 was released. Not fixed with Ventura and Safari 16. Is maddening. Turning off Hide IP adress only fix it for certain websites, but not for others. Curiously enough, if I use a VPN (a fake one, local just to filters ads), every website loads without fail so it must be some networking issue between Safari and my ISP.

I´m from Spain.

Cox Communications here. Oddly, everything works fine now after I toggled it off and then back on again.

I have had the same issue after upgrading to Venura, most of my websites will open but you can't go any further like passwords or clicking links in the website it just freezes up and won't let you do anything. Some websites won't let you log in at all. I did the "hide IP address deal" earlier and that didn't make a difference for me but I don't want websites getting my IP address I will just be bombarded by more emails or worse hacked. Any solution other than the hide my ip address enable or disable.??? Apple needs to fix this as I hate using chrome. I only like to use Safari for most of my work. Thanks.

Same thing here, and unchecking hide IP tracking fixed it immediately. After a very patience-testing and frustrating day, I'm just relieved I can use the internet again so thank you so much for this thread. I can't believe it's not a more widespread issue. Hopefully it gets a fix soon.

I'm experiencing the same and I'm still on Monterey.

I tried disabling "Hide IP address from trackers" but it didn't make any difference. I don't have "Private Relay" enabled either in iCloud preferences and there are no extensions running in my Safari – still no luck.

Some sites won't load at all, for instance https://www.textpattern.com/

Everything loads fine in Firefox.

So if anyone has any more ideas, I'm all ears.

Update: surprisingly enabling my VPN fixes the issue for me!

Same here. Something changed in the way that Safari routes the webpages, at least with my ISP. The issue is present since Safari 15 was launched, and also affected Mac OS Catalina. The same websites load in Firefox and Chrome with no issues.

Enabling Icloud Private Relay fixes it for me, as does enabling a VPN.

Thanks for confirming that. I can live with that solution.

Same issue as everyone else here. I ENABLED Ventura's firewall in Network Settings and now sites load better. Still slower than before installing Ventura, but at least they load. The progress bar doesn't ever complete, it seems, on some sites, but they appear to be browsable and usable even with the progress bar stuck at half-way.

And to answer a previous question, I too am on Comcast Business. Did you find anything out about that?

I´m not sure its ISP related. I´m on O2 (Movistar) and I´m from Spain. Same issues.
