I stopped using Chrome a few months ago because it would routinely trigger the discrete GPU in my MBP (whereas Safari and FFX would not). Safari handles everything pretty well, I keep FFX around as a non-WebKit backup browser for some sites. Chrome is fast but that speed comes at a cost (ie. battery)

Safari is a good effort for Apple & certainly not inferior.

Yet for my hectic and fast paced workflow, Chrome is so much faster & efficient. A great part of that is due to very clever, time saving extensions that no one else has.

For personal use Safari is fine, yet I still prefer Chrome due to the exemplary, fast & fun extensions that make all that I do on the web, so much faster, convenient & enjoyable.

In addition having some personal / work overlap, Chrome is just too good to ignore. As recent as one year ago I wouldn't have expected that I'd have the strong preference and superior experience that Chrome provides today.

However I must say I've spent a fair amount of time on the Chrome Store discovering these wonderful tools. Had I not spent that time, I would not be as impressed with Chrome as I am.

----------

Boils down to personal preference.
No one is going to see any real world difference.

Respectfully, you are very wrong.

Chrome is so fast & efficient when one uses the tools (extensions) available, it's changed my workday. The time savings & ease of completing the tasks I perform has changed everything for the better.

I use them both and I favor Safari over Chrome.

Chrome's gestures are quite bad. Safari integrates well into iCloud. Safari is a bit speedier than Chrome. Chrome is a resource hog.

I thought I'd give Safari 6 a whirl after ML came out but after a month of that Ive returned to Chrome. It just feels faster and more responsive and doesnt crash like Safari when I used Click To Flash.

Its a pretty close fight, though.

Safari has always and still does give me random hangs and 100% of the time freezes up when opening multiple tabs. Chrome all the way, Apple might be king of design but they suck when it comes to web browser and mice.

I don't think I've ever seen Safari and Chrome render sites significantly differently. They both use Webkit, after all. Chrome does have more features (especially when you consider extensions, which are VASTLY better on Chrome), although I also appreciate Safari's simplicity and willingness to do things differently.

They're both great browsers and we are lucky to have them. Compare that to Internet Explorer, which is still behind everyone else even in version 9.

Agree.

I put Firefox firmly in the second choice position.

Safari would be in a tie for third with Opera.

If we allow Windows into the discussion I would put Safari ahead of Internet Explorer 9 .

Chrome is so much farther ahead than Safari.....Started using Chrome on my Mac Air the day I bought it, never bothered with Safari (as I tried it on ipad and iphone, horrible..)

On ML, safari can take up to minutes to render some website, while chrome does it in few seconds.

While I prefer the general navigation in safari (smoother and nice back/forward effect), I believe chrome is designed in a more intelligent way.
