So is this fixed with Safari 10.1 in macOs 10.12.4?

Edit: It appears so. At least it fixed it for me on El Capitan. Yay!

Which latest update? Is there a Safari update in 10.12.4? Otherwise, I haven't seen/installed a Safari update in at least a month or two.

I've used Mac and Safari for a few years on a MacBook Air and never had this issue, but now with a new MacBook Pro this is driving me crazy.

This is how the bug goes:
-Open new tab, tell Safari to open a website on it
-Switch to another tab I had open (or even create a new tab)
-The website opens on my current tab, instead of the one I originally told it to open on

Has anyone experienced this as well?

Yes. This has been happening to me for a few months now, and it drives me crazy, because I tend to work fast and open multiple tabs at once. If I click to start loading a new webpage, then click over to another tab, it opens in that tab, and then if I click the back button, I can no longer get back to the page I was just on. It literally copies the previous tab's history to the new tab as well. VERY ANNOYING.

Happened to me (Sierra), so I reverted to 10.11.6.
It's a painful bug! I couldn't stand it, but I've experienced this issue once again in 10.11.6 :|
(But hopefully just once, or maybe it was my fault)
same problem here, I am on 10.11.6 though. LoL
