A big change that I have noticed on my iPhone 6 plus after updating to iOS 9.1 (public beta) is that the safari tabs don't reload each time. Clearly then it was not just an issue of RAM if the new OS can manage this with just 1 GB of RAM. Another cool feature is the ability to edit attachments natively in the mail app , just like preview on the mac , including signing your name, highlighting etc. Not seen this mentioned in any of the iOS 9 reviews on the net

I don't disagree that apple should provide more RAM . I feel compared to iOS 8 which was terrible on my iPhone 6 plus , in iOS 9 the reloading of tabs is definitely less. My iphone 5 on iOS 7.1 wouldn't reload tabs as much as my brand new iPhone 6 plus on iOS 8.X
That's because the iPhone 5 is 32Bit and uses less RAM. Therefore there is more of the 1GB RAM available than there is on the 6+. Plus the 6+ has to scale down to 1080p and the GPU will use more RAM than the i5 did.
I feel apple have not yet figured out the best optimization for iPhone 6 plus. Considering its their most expensive phone, you would think that after a year they would have optimised iOS better. Having Said that ios 9.1 seems to be Faster on the 6 plus
They never did reload constantly on the iPhone 5. It has more available RAM than any iPhone since (other than the soon to be released 6S).
Tab reloading and app reloading are not small things on the flagship product from the flagship product company, especially in 2014/2015, and with the most expensive handset on the market (at the time of release). They can cause major issues for business users and are frustrating for regular users all the same. Issues that simply shouldn't have been there, and were only there because Apple cheaped out to protect their profit margins.

No, because forms filled in, or documents typed out, or spreadsheets filled will disappear should an app or page reload. That is time wasted, and time is money for business users, but I don't expect you to understand this given your previous replies.
Then these companies really should start investing in apps than typing in web forms.

Maybe you're just sore you have an iPhone 6 Plus and an iPad Mini 2? You'd sing a different tune if you owned an iPad Air 2 and and experienced having 8 tabs open with no reloading.

Apps reload as well, as I mentioned earlier...
I've had it happen loads on my iPad Air 1. So often I've come out of an app to send a message or email and go back and boom. It's gone and it starts from the beginning again, all progress lost.
Not a problem on Air 2 with 2GB RAM.
There are pages and pages of complaints about a little blip of stuttering in animation of an obscure thing like looking at a list of cities in the Weather app...in comparison this would be a major issue.
I am using iPad4 tabs reloaded on anything iOS 8, less frequent on iOS 9, non existent on iOS 9.1.
That odd because my tabs in safari would always reload on my iPhone 5 it's the first thing I noticed when updating to iOS 9 that they don't anymore. In any case I'm loving iOS 9.
It's really great to be able to toggle between tabs now and they don't reload constantly.
I would suspect your previous install or something because the iPhone 5 was/is hands down the best iPhone for not reloading. Sure it will if pushed but compared to the the 6+ for instance it acts like it has 3GB of RAM.
Safari on iOS 9 is amazing. Today I've been basically just playing around and opening websites willy nilly, and the only site that's reloaded (once), was The Verge. I do have Crystal installed, but disabled it this morning just to see what an impact it brings to the table. Obviously a substantial one, but even without it the reloads seem to have effectively stopped.
I can start a post on a message board, surf other sites, check FB, write an email, then come back to the message board some time later and finish the post, with 7-10 tabs open.
Definately a major improvement over iOS 8. Not disputing the fact that more RAM on the newer iPhones will be beneficial, but it would seem that Safari (sometimes) acting a fool wasn't necessarily based on too little RAM, but rather bad code/optimization?

On iOS 8 tab reloading pretty much stopped (unless you opened ten tabs of course, or used other apps and came back to Safari) if you disabled JavaScript. That of course made most of the web unusable..
So, it might be that the JavaScript engine is less memory hungry now, or something. It is my understanding that tab reloading is much rarer on iPad Air 2 also on iOS 8, so more memory definitely helps.
In any case, it really seems to be much better now (running first gen iPad Air here), but 2GB on new iPhones is great news too. It certainly won't make things worse in any way.
