Thats okay, - BUT, I used to have 500 tabs open (the limit) - and it worked perfectly.Works fine for me (M1 iPP and mini 6).
Granted, tab groups has meant I only have 10-30 tabs open at a time instead of 100+.
thanks, but I tried that already, unfortunatelySettings safari > clear history and website data
Do a soft soft reset, (iPad with no home button) press and let go volume up > volume down > press on hold top button till Apple logo appears

Yes I read you mention it somewhere. On my 2017 iPad Pro (A10X/4GB), I've already had some Safari freezing and crashing even on iOS 13 with less than 200 tabs. One of the reasons why I upgraded to the 2021 iPP.
FIVE HUNDRED…… What’s wrong with add to Favourites Bookmarks?Thats okay, - BUT, I used to have 500 tabs open (the limit) - and it worked perfectly.

Good god… Five hundred tabs? That’s more I had opened on Mac/PC/second PC/phone/tablet combined at once… ever.Thats okay, - BUT, I used to have 500 tabs open (the limit) - and it worked perfectly.

This guy Internets.FIVE HUNDRED…… What’s wrong with add to Favourites Bookmarks?
Seriously, that many open web pages not saved is asking for trouble with memory, reloads, even losing those sites… you probably wouldn’t notice if a loaded site disappeared.
Dont shame now, come on.. ??FIVE HUNDRED…… What’s wrong with add to Favourites Bookmarks?

Is this similar to what you are seeing?Safari on iPad is very slow - takes a few seconds to start, sometimes crashes on startup. Anyone else has similar problems? This started with version 15.2 for me, before that it was stunningly fast
Interesting. No issues at my end, I have Air 3’s and an M1 pro, spend hours a day in safari.Air4 and M1
No, its definitely not. In your case Safari started loading almost before it even opened (animation finished showing) - so thats how it used to be for me.
I tried this just now, and no change…you can also try to turn off "HANDoff". Settngs/ General/Airplay & handoff/ Handoff
Also you might want to look at your Extensions in Safari. Try turning all of them off.. restart ipad , then turn them back on 1 at a time... incase there's issue with 1 of them.
Also you can check if you have "private relay(Beta)" on. if its on you can try to turn that off .. icloud/private relay(Beta)
Yeah. I would want to figure that out too. I am guessing you already tried closing all tabs? Does that help at all? Any VPN's installed and running? No, its definitely not. In your case Safari started loading almost before it even opened (animation finished showing) - so thats how it used to be for me.
Now - for a very weird and unknown reason to me - it tends to stop for a few seconds, and be completely unresponsive. And sometimes crashes on startup as well… I’ll see to record a video of it and post it here tomorrow.
Yes, this is happening even if no tabs are open.Yeah. I would want to figure that out too. I am guessing you already tried closing all tabs? Does that help at all? Any VPN's installed and running?
Hmm I think sometimes we don't clear cache memory and this can be a cause to slow down safari on IPad.
You can solve it by clearing cache memories.
Method 1 – For Systems Working on Older Versions Than 10.11
- Open the Safari browser on your system.
- From the upper-left corner, click on the Safari menu bar.
- Choose the “Preferences” tab from the drop-down list.
- Next click on the “Advanced” tab. Now tick mark the checkbox against “Show Develop menu in menu bar”.
- Exit the Preferences window and open the “Developer” tab.
- In the end, select the “Empty cache” option from the drop-down menu.
Method 2 – For Systems Working on 10.11 Version or Later
- Launch the Safari browser and open the menu bar.
- Next, choose “Reset Safari” under the “Safari” option.
- From the new window, checkmark on relevant options and click on the “Reset” button.
- In the end, close your active browser and relaunch it.
I believe those instructions are for the Mac?
I wish there was a simple empty cache option on Safari for iOS. Alas, the available option is pretty nuclear and clears everything (Clear History and Website Data) and I believe it’s synced across iOS devices.
