never tried on mac

I have always used firefox on my winbox but never tried it on my mac. I liked safari and some of it's features, ie pithelmet, which I just found out about.
Is safari 2.0 suppose to be in Tiger or just an update? anyone know?

OK - I see now. The problem is that we're in transition, and Safari is the only browser that's aware of this. Once we get out of this transitional period, this problem will go away.

It was a pain when I switched from Eudora to Thunderbird because I couldn't find the preferences any more. Of course, they were buried in Mac OS X's mail application.

It's just a good thing no one has decided to save space and eliminate Safari and the mail client. There were better ways to handle the need for unlimited types but Apple does what it does.

I'm with you on the latest Camino beta. It looks reasonable and feels speedier than other browsers.

I don't know about you guys, but I find Firefox more stable than Safari. Specially on applet-heavy sites like IGN.com, Safari just freezes there for a long time. The most useful feature of Firefox for me is to be able to save web pages with images like IE on Windows. For some reason, Safari doesn't even have that option. Flash sites are more stable on Safari though.

I tried Firefox on Mac, but just couldn't handle the lack of a middle button/click to open new tab. Instead I switched to Camino, which handles that and keychain.

If you haven't tried Camino in a while, go try the latest (0.8) build. It's come a long way towards being a real browser.

Safari/Firefox: speed and installation query

Hi,

ON my Ibook G4, Safari is extremely slow....so slow that a five year old laptop I have seems faster.....What's wrong with it? Anyone has an idea?

For Firefox, I tried to install it after downloading it. I get a message asking me to choose an application to install.....I have no idea which application to choose...can anyone help here ?

You don't use Installer for Firefox. It's a 'drag-install' application - you install it by dragging the application icon from the disk image to your hard drive (preferably the Applications folder).

firefox installation

Thanks for the tip. I tried it (drag the icon to the application folder) and got the same message: there is no default application specified to open the document Firefoxset up- 0.8.exe. Two options CANCEL or CHOOSE APPLICATION......what do I do ?

Claude, you are a newbie aren't you. No fear, we're here to help. The file you downloaded is the installer for windows machines. Go back to the firfox site and download the correct firefox version (mac osx).
