Here a blast from the past my last Note i had and it didn't cost £1179. o_O
Loved the Note 4 and kept it for over 2 years before upgrading.

I'm currently using an iPhone SE 2020 which i really like & does the job for me these day's, £1179 is just to much for a smartphone.

I agree with the others about the app drawer on iOS14. It's a mess. I don't even use it. It has apps all over the place and doesn't allow you to change the folders. I end up just using the search function anyway.

But you have to admit...have an app Library that is not arranged well is not easy to use. It would be better in my opinion to have the ability to sort the apps in alphabetical order or any order we see fit. Otherwise we get apps sorted into folders that do not fit each persons definition for that app. IOS 14 is a step in the right direction but the implementation of widgets on the home screen leaves a lot to be desired.

First, not apologizing for the new App management on iOS 14. Agree it’s not ideal. Not having the ability to edit the folders just feels like a miss, though I’m sure Apple would say you can built a customer folder on any of their home screens.

You know you can quickly get an alphabetical list by just tapping the App Library search box at the top, don’t you? You can even than fast scroll using the alphabet on the right side of the screen. Yes, it’s one more step but if you swiped all the way to the right in the first place, what’s one more tap? ;)

I’ll be honest, I never use the app drawer on Android and won’t likely ever use it on iOS—just using the spotlight search box is so much quicker anyways, IMO.

Maybe, I'm indifferent because even with the introduction of App Library... I would prefer the customization of the HomeScreen. I can understand @Cryates argument if apps are being switched around, that could cause confusion. But as @tbayrgs there is an option for alphabetical list.

But this is Apple first go at this App Library feature and Widgets... when given more iterations, improvements will be made.

I've just got my Note 4 back from a friend who purchased it me years ago, he threw it in a drawer when it stopped working.
I purchased a battery and replacement charging port, hopefully that'll get it going again.

But it is not just the app library that makes IOS 14 a mess. The whole widgets on the home screen are only half baked. You still can't position them them where you want in correlation with app icons. It still tries to auto arrange things for you. Then you can't (at least not on the betas) make widgets transparent or resize them. It is nice first steps....but it has a long way to go.
It always just one more tap isn't? I mean look at FaceID...works great...then you have to swipe to get to the homescreen...just one more tap!

Yeah, it needs some work. I’m not a widget on the home screen kinda guy but I do like the scroll to the left of the notification panel or first home screen and the new types of widgets, having no interactive functionality, are a step backwards. I have an Authy widget I use all the time that lets me copy the 2FA code code for any of my respective logins right from the widget. Same goes for my Fantastical widget (lets me change the viewable date right in the widget), going straight to an article in Google New or recap of a hockey game in ESPN (GO BOLTS ⚡!). Whatever respective new versions of widgets for these apps will lose those capabilities so I’m bummed. I don’t understand why, if the older style widgets could have built in functionality that the new ones can—the conservation of battery argument doesn’t make sense if old widgets could do it.

They also need to eliminate the app/widget arrangement limitation as you mentioned. Everything snapping to the top is just stupid.

So yeah, most of the ‘flagship’ changes in iOS 14 are lost on me personally, though I am looking forward to being able to make my default email app Spark. Now Apple just needs to open the default app changes to calendar, maps, To Do, and music apps. Maybe by iOS 16 or 17. ;)

Have to say, I had to mess around with my wife's iPhone to reset it (she took my 11 Pro), and there's no going back to 60hz once you've gone 120hz, or at least adaptive. Wowzer.

One thing that I find very interesting is that I get less blurry kid pics when I use the 108mb camera compared to the normal camera setting.

Yeah, the difference is truly insane .... once you've used 120hz. Like, I didn't know what I was missing before and I honestly kinda blew it off beforehand, but then as soon as I started using the Note in Best Buy on Saturday I was sold.

Tell that to the Apple fanboys in the iphone forum lol

They think its a gimmic and dont need it....until Apple tells them they need it.

Yeah, like blatantly bashing a feature you think is "useless" solely because your device of choice doesn't have it is a beyond tired tactic. I can understand, like myself, not knowing how important a feature is until you use in practice, but if Apple does add 120Hz to the upcoming line of phones then the forum will predictably lose its mind over it, and herald Apple designers as geniuses. What's more funny about all of that is the 11"/12.9" iPad Pro is 120Hz.

Agreed. Still have the iPhone and when I look at the Home Screen even on iOS 14 it feels so dated and stale.
And with Goodlock you can make the default launcher do this in the app drawer. Talk about a clean way to reach all your apps in one swipe.
