Played with a friends S22 Ultra today and I noticed something that’s bothered me about android forever…

Why are the app icons so low resolution? You don’t notice it until you go over to iOS and they are crystal clear. I have noticed it’s better with Pixels but still, what a stupid, easy thing to improve. To me, they really stand out when you have a QHD screen and low res icons.

By default the phone's display settings are zoomed in. Also resolution set to FHD+. A lot of users fail to change the settings.

My icons under WQHD+ and no zoom are crystal clear.

Think you are simply observing different screen resolution options and nothing to do with icons as LIVEFRMNYC noted

Both OS's have different px sized icons based on screen function, zoom or grid settings etc etc and are similar

We all know the issues with IOS lack of functionality when it comes to customisation, themes, icons and screen layout etc, thats the thing missing on IOS forever LOL

No, I know the difference between screen resolutions. It was said to 120hz and QHD. This isn’t something I’m just now noticing, but it’s something I forget about until I use an iPhone again. It’s nothing Samsung is doing wrong in particular. It’s more of a worldwide android thing. It’s obviously not a big deal, but it’s always something that’s bugged me. Icons on android are just less sharp and I can often see pixels.

I carry an iPhone and Galaxy everyday. Can't say this is something I've noticed. Only thing I notice is that iOS icons are brighter. Even with the S22 Ultra set at full brightness with extra brightness enable in settings, the iPhone icons look brighter at full brightness.

I put my iPhone 13 pro next to my S22 ultra and the app icons look just as good, actually better on the S22 ultra.

Sitting here with my S22U and 13PM side by side. Only difference I can really tell between the two is the shape is slightly more square on the 13PM than the stock OneUI icons on the S22U.

Yeah it's funny how nitpicky people get about Android after they move to an iphone.
But the screen on the S22 Ultra is bright and more crisp and you can arrange those icons anywhere you want to have them. But but but the icons aren't
as bright as an iphone

I'm not gonna buy another phone. I'm not gonna buy another phone. I'M NOT GONNA BUY ANOTHER PHONE!

Sorry... Trying to speak it into truth

Fold 4 is happening for me later this year for sure. Got the $ on the side for it, and everything.

It was part of my reasoning with canceling my s22u order, after over a month of waiting.

Trying to keep it to just one >$1000 phone purchase.

Flagships are so very similar year in and year out these days when it comes to day to day useage that I'm just not wowed enough to spend big money anymore. I would rather spend it on guitars.

After waiting for the S22 Ultra and feeling kinda lukewarm about it I'm now pondering whether to get last year's Sony Xperia 1 iii. It has a 4k OLED display, Snapdragon 888, 12GB RAM, expandable SD memory AND a headphone jack. OK so I'll lose the SPen and that does bother me but the price is so much lower than the S22U and in real.world useage I shouldn't really notice much difference...

It will have to be a huge upgrade over the ZF3 for me to bite this year. Mainly the cameras and battery life. I'm fine with the crease and even fine with the narrow front screen but the cameras just don't cut it in 2022. That's the main reason it sits in a drawer right now while I use the S22U and P6P as my daily and 13PM on my work line.

Unlocked? I keep checking and nothing. This is one of the few things that I absolutely love about apple over Android.
Yeah unlocked from Samsung.
Does Apple push out security updates?
I mean they do updates but are they monthly?
I have seen exploits not patched by Apple for a long time. I think there is a public perception that Apple patched things more timely than Android. But I am not sure it is accurate

Good point on security updates. What I mean is that when there is an update it's available for everyone at once whereas you can spend days or weeks waiting on this side. Trust me that's not enough for me to go back to iOS just one small thing in it's favor to me.

Any other differences you've noticed with this update?

Yeah I knew what you meant just wanted to call it out for others who read our comments . I haven't noticed anything to be honest. But my S22U was running like a champ before the update

Was this update supposed to address the throttling of games?
