I've got high hopes for Samsung next year with the S6, hopefully it be built upon the same design as the Alpha and Note 4 but with a 5.2" QHD screen with a 64bit Snapdragon 808 or 810 CPU & finally 3 to 4GB of ram & slim bezel's without having to sacrifice weather sealing, also get rid of the flap at the bottom.

32GB as standard along with SD card slot.

Camera tbh they need to lower the megapixels to 12mp & with a bigger sensor & with OIS that would give the iPhone 6 camera run for it money in low light, but it probably end up being 18mp or something.

Also get rid of the 5 min 4K video limitation aswell, which might just happen with them moving to 64bit.

What do you think could the S6 be Samsung biggest seller since the S3 next year.

Basically it will have the same Note 4 specs + waterproof + new Snapdragon 810 + bigger battery.

Maybe 20Mpx camera, but I think it will stay 16Mpx with OIS.

I think it will be a disappointment like it always is. Samsung seems to have made the Note lineup their unofficial flagship.

Your S6 seems plausible except the small bezels, Samsung seems not really into them...

S4 had pretty thin bezels... oddly enough they went larger for the S5. Hoping they go really thin for the S6, even though I am already getting the Note 4, which also has the thinnest bezels out of any Note yet.

----------

I just want the same thing I wanted last year... A near stock experience.

On Samsung? Doubtful they will stock-ify Touchwiz by the looks of the Touchwiz L preview.

Same **** as every year.
An even more bloated, laggy ugly touchwiz , and beastly specs to attempt to run it somewhat "smoothly"

I have no idea what to expect.

I'd like to see them take it back a notch and go with 5" 1080P screen

3gb RAM

Snapdragon 808

Downward firing speaker

Android L

2800 mAh battery

32gb standard

Waterproof design remains

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the S Pen and all of its features?

I used a 6+ yesterday and compared it to my Nexus 4.

I would totally love a phablet for my normal usage of apps. I don't care about the tonnes of additional features the Note has. I want it just because of it's larger screen.

Aluminium Unibody
Better camera that is useful in low light even if it's 8mp
Complete overhaul of touchwiz, remove all the 'features' and focus on useful things and making them work properly.
4.7-4.9'' screen NOT higher res than 1080p, 720p is fine
Fingerprint scanner than doesn't require a swipe down
Specs will be good so I don't care about the processor specs, etc.

I think the QHD screen and the square look are a dead cert for next year with aluminium sides & much thinner design.

5.2" screen is all but certain aswell, but hopefully not making any larger than the current S5 if anything making it slightly smaller would be much better.

The reason the S5 has a bigger bezel than the S4 is because of the weather sealing, hopefully they found a way to make them slimmer on the S6 while removing that flap at the bottom and using some kind of weather coating that protects the ports.

I also think 3GB will be more likely rather than 4GB.

Snapdragon 808 64bit clocked at 2.8Ghz is more likely rather than the 810, as that will be saved more for the Note 5, and the LTE-A Korean S6.

Touchwiz needs to be toned down alot get rid of all the silly features like air gestures ect, and concentrate more on performance, HTC has it cracked with their software so why can't Samsung, better still keep it to a minimum like Motorola do while adding better software for things like the camera ect.

Camera will come with OIS this time around & about time to, but rather than giving us 18 to 20mp, lower it back down to 10 to 12mp while giving us a bigger sensor with increased pixel size & a F2.0 lens, that will finally give us a decent low light indoor camera for once, while still retaining enough detail for cropping.

32GB should be standard now for internal storage, 16GB just isn't enough anymore, but Samsung and some of the others like LG think here in the UK we don't want bigger storage because people won't buy them, also the Networks play apart in this to thinking they just won't sell anything bigger than 16GB.

Stereo speakers would be nice but i don't think that will happen.

Wireless charging out of the box, would also be much welcomed aswell rather than buying it as an expensive add on.

If Samsung play their cards right with the S6 & learn from their past mistakes then they will have a smartphone that people will want to buy, it be like the S2 frenzy all over again.

Water proof/resistance like Xperia phones but that will mean no replaceable battery etc; will def make it look /feel more premium and solid of course.

And please, for the love of all things holy, shrink down the electronics and switch to Nano SIM. This change is long overdue.

I don't think that's possible anymore. The S2 was great because it was the first time any android phone showed enough power, polish and performance to be considered an iPhone alternative.

Really Samsung needs to get back to basics. Trim 70% of the features no one uses anyway. Stop with the services no one uses.

Focus on lifestyle products. Take the top 10 things people do and focus on being the best at those things. Make your android version the fastest and most polished. Forget point of diminishing returns spec wars like screen resolution, and focus on insane battery life and fluid 60fps UI speed with no dropped frames. Make AMOLED screens brighter, more efficient, with longer element longevity. This is the kind of stuff people care about.

This is my biggest complaint with the S5. I can't get it in 32GB storage. 16GB is small enough already, but coupled with how much space Samsung takes up, the available storage to the user is less than 10GB. That just doesn't cut it. It is the only thing that kept me from upgrading my HTC One (M7) to a S5 this year.

I would totally get a GPE Note 4.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the S Pen and all of its features?

You can have GPE with S-Pen features enabled just like the HTC One M8 has double tap and Zoe in the camera. Put the featured apps in the play store a la Motorola and HTC and updates become a cinch

The way I look at it, is this. If they used stock android w/ GNL, they can focus on things that sell the phone like the camera, screen quality and the overall look and feel. Dump all R&D into that and forget about it!

They already have the best camera on a Droid based on reviews. Hardware is finally taken in the right direction (according to the critics). They have the best screens in the business and battery life is right there with the best of them.

Edit: I would keep the physical home button.

I have no idea what to expect.

I'd like to see them take it back a notch and go with 5" 1080P screen.I think they can keep the 5.1 and reduce the form factor. Look at the Alpha, it is smaller the the i6 with the same size screen

3gb RAM

Snapdragon 808

Downward firing speaker Would be great if they could mimic what they did with the Tab S and implement stereo sound w/o making it look gaudy.

Android L.

2800 mAh battery

32gb standard

Waterproof design remains. Would be interesting to see how they manage this with their new design language

Bolded.

If we assume the HTC M9 will finally ditch the UltraPixel camera in favor of a 13Mpx one minimum and the next LG G4, I think next year no one will be thinking of Samsung and it's SGS6.

The LG G4 will probably fix the G3 issues: no lag and better performance with the QHD display thanks to Snapdragon 810, better QHD display in it's second year with more brightness and better color saturation, bigger battery life but still replaceable, still microSD, still 5.5 IPS display in a small body, better camera, no overheating hopefully (at least not as frequently), 3GB RAM, Android L and ART for excellent UI performance, etc.

Samsung will have a very rough year next year. If we can get the M9 with a better camera + Snapdragon 810 also + 3GB RAM + smaller bezels + bigger battery then Samsung would become the third option for most.

Add also the OnePlus Two with smaller screen yet better specs and still at 299$ then... Samsung who?

I actually prefer it. Makes it easier for Pocket insertions and removal.

You don't find it gets in your way when holding the phone with one hand? Come to think of it maybe I've learned to prefer it because I usually put my phone in the breast pocket.

VERY good summary, I hope everything will come like this, then 2015 will be a good year to buy a smartphone.
