The second generation of the Super AMOLED display-toting Galaxy Tab S tabletsis in the works at Samsung, and as we revealed earlier this week, the Galaxy Tab S 2 will come in 8-inch and 9.7-inch flavors (with model numbers SM-T710 and SM-T810) and will be*thinner than Apple’s iPad Air 2. Today, we have information of the full spec sheets of the two tablets, thanks to our trusty insiders.

They should stick with 10.1 or 10.5 inches. I also think that the iPad air 2 is about as thin as it can get without making things uncomfortable. However I'm sure they will be good.

According to Sammobile, Samsung is working on new Note tabs slated for either the 3rd or 4th quarter 2015. We'll see...

With the success of the Note 4, I would think a similar designed 8" would sell pretty well?

Yep. Personally I can't imagine a better ultraportable productivity tablet.

Geez, why not just make the smaller one 7.9" and call it day Samsung.

The specs sound almost perfect, i just wish they would have kept the smaller one at 8.4". Otherwise i think it was really smart to lower the resolution a little and switch to the 4:3 ratio.

Good news i am interested in the 9.7 inch version and i really the like the aspect ratio 4:3 because i think the 4:3 ratio is way better aspect ratio for tablets than 16:9, 16:10 ratio.

I'm glad that Samsung has followed Google and Apple to the 4:3 aspect ratio route for tablets!

But most likely i won't be buying the new Tab S2 because i have a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and it is great, i am very happy with it.

And all so i want to buy the Ipad Air 2 or 3(when it comes out later this year).

All rumours pointing to a full metal look for the new S tab series. The 8 inch device will likely be my next tablet as there are zero rumours of a 8 inch note device.

I want the 8 inch S tab with a data plan...hopefully that comes pretty soon after release. Guessing won’t be out for a few months though. It’s worth the wait I reckon

9.7 will be great but I already have a note 12.2..don't need another big tablet. Just want one to take around with me

Btw, their "Milk music app" is pretty slick. I can't figure how they totally screw up their system UI but design the best music app.

Good news i am interested in the 9.7 inch version and i really the like the aspect ratio 4:3 because i think the 4:3 ratio is way better aspect ratio for tablets than 16:9, 16:10 ratio.

I have tablets in the 16:9, 16:10, and 4:3 AR and in my use cases they all serve one purpose better than another. 4:3 is not helpful for multi-window support, but it is excellent for reading.

I finally got around to rooting my Pro 8.4. I "froze" a lot of the Samsung bloatware and used a tweak that allows ANY app to be used in a multi-window configuration. It was fast before, it is even faster now.

The battery life on my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is poor(only 3/4 hours of sceen time most of the time and on a lucky day 5 hours) which is very disappointing for a tablet. :/

Soo i really hope the upcoming Tab S2 9.7 will have great battery life, +6 hours of sceen time!!!

How is the battery life on your Tab Pro 8.4 and how many hours of sceen time are you getting on a single charge Sracer?

Battery life has been quite excellent. I haven't run any formal tests but I can use it all day and not dip below 50%. If I get 9-10 hours, I wouldn't be surprised. I'll run a test and report back.

These renders look pretty cool. I still prefer the widescreen format of the original Tab S 8.4 though, and the bronze look too... Personally I might celebrate these new products by getting a very nice deal on last year's model instead

All I want is a super light 8" tablet with an AMOLED screen for reading, and it has to be an Android for productivity reasons (better swipe keyboards). I kept trying the Asus 8" 4:3 aspect ratio tablet at BB but did not care for the display to tell the truth, too bad cause it was very light making it great for reading. I will look at the new S as soon as possible.

Well I just went and pulled the trigger on a bronze Tab S 8.4 XD Got it for ca 200 EUR so I'm happy.

The S 2 looks cool though for sure, my wallet is seriously hoping I won't like it more than the S... Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

I am pretty sure today is the release so I probably will check them out later today if they are on display.

I am not really in the market, just curious to tell the truth. A Samsung rep I spoke to about two weeks ago thought they be a hard sell considering the company keeps dropping too many devices and does not feel the price is a drawing card and he was not aware at the time of any trade in offers.
