What color did you go with for the custom?

For my Flip3, I went with a silver frame, with matte white colorway. This time around, Samsung is offering a gold frame, so went with a gold frame and matte white. Glad to see my order status get updated today to, "preparing dispatch." Fingers crossed it ships out soon.

I would love to get one of these phones but I’ve already invested in a MacBook Pro and I feel like it would obviously not work as well in my ecosystem. Also I don’t wanna deal with a headache of the screen protector bubbling or peeling. But I have to admit that the idea of a flip phone is very tempting
You should easily depending on your luck go 8 to 10 months before you are likely to see a bubble at the crease on the screen protector and given they are usually a free replacement and designed to be disposable, it should not be a deciding factor :) ymmv

Amazing trade in deals meant I upgraded my flip 3 to a flip 4, and I’m very impressed. I know it’s a minor update but I noticed immediately the better battery life, easier to grip and hold with the flatter sides, less obvious crease, (arguably much) better speakers

Minor but together make it a solid update or starting point for a flip phone.

Folding glass still blows my mind

I have the Fold 4 and it is an amazing phone. It’s just hard to walk away from iMessage, which feels frustrating because I know Apple has such a hold on me with that. Everyone in my circle of family and friends uses iMessage. I need to decide soon on whether to keep the Fold 4 but right now I am leaning on sending it back. It really is an incredible phone but it is expensive and I already have the Apple Watch.

I was feeling this way as well until I tried Airmessage. It's still not quiet as convenient, but I get Facetime and iMessage capability on all of my Android devices now. You just have to make sure your contacts have your Apple ID email saved in your contact info. I turned off the ability to receive imessages for my phone number in my iPhone 13PM and now when my wife or kids send me an iMessage it comes directly to my device through Airmessage. If you have a mac that you can leave up full time as a server it really does work great. The only thing I'm missing is the ability to react to a message and the bubbles don't show up when someone is typing. However, full size media in individual and group chats works great, which was the main thing I was trying to achieve.

Yes, you are right that this is a descent solution. I actually tried both Airmessage and BlueBubbles. I was having server issues with Airmessage but BlueBubbles seems to be more consistent. In my limited testing, I just worry about the consistency and then I start to think it would just be easier to have another small iPhone in my pocket alongside my Fold 4. From there, I go down the spiral path of why deal with two phones and then I am back on giving up on Android.

I also don’t want to have to tell my other contacts to use my e-mail because my extended family is on the older side and have difficulty with tech. I thought about getting a second phone line for Fold 4 but it just seems like a lot of work arounds. I wish I could convince all my contacts to just switch to Signal but it is what it is. I can’t wait for Apple to do something unique and fresh again instead of incremental upgrades to their phones each year.

You should look into Beeper. I got in on the "beta" (paid $100 for 1 year). I appreciate the innovation and what they're trying to accomplish, so I paid. You can't use FaceTime, you need to initiate new messages to new people from the desktop app, and you need to use your Apple ID for iMessage, but it works flawlessly for iMessages and sharing full-res media. The only issue I have is that you need to set up text message forwarding to their server, which is a Mac, to get the feature to work. Appears very legit but I can understand privacy concerns.

I may buy a cheap old MBA to try and use AirMessage as I've never tried that and am curious.

I‘ve been using iMessage with the iPad for about 2 to 3 years. It’s not about telling your contacts to use email to iMessage you. As @aggie99 stated.. as long as your contacts save your email then iMessage will do the work for you. I don’t care to do the two phone lineup as well (no shade to those who do)... But I‘d rather carry an iPad with me.

And I stated this in the Fold thread, the iPad has different roles for me… laptop replacement, tablet along with a communication device (iMessage). But let me acknowledge my method might seem unorthodox, but it works for me.

Yup! That’s why I stopped doing it… I wanted it all or nothing lol. Then there was the omission of read receipts as well.

Interesting. I've yet to miss a read receipt. I'll have to look out for that. That would be a bit of a down side to it. I like to know when my kids have read my messages.

It’s been years since I’ve tried it… maybe they found away to fix it. But last time I used it.. read receipts didn’t work.

Apart from what others have already noted re only have to have email address saved, you also do not need to carry 2 phones but simply have an old iPhone that occasionally you switch on to keep your old associated iPhone number active according to the tips and tricks on Airmessage :)

The benefits of working from home, never miss a delivery. My bespoke flip 4 has arrived :).

I know I say this all the time, but if you have a Samsung device, Good Lock is a must, as well as setting up Bixby routines. There's nothing in the Android world that compares. If you only watch reviews from tech reviewers who don't actually use Samsung devices as a daily driver, they'll never cover Good Lock, and show how incredibly useful it is. Truly a gem.

Do you have a few top things you use with good lock that you'd recommend? I will admit, I've never used it and it sounds like I should be.

I got my shipping label created finally for my custom red white and black trimmed Z Flip ...
Have you gotten your scheduled delivery? And what is your process in regards to the S22U? Are you going to wait it out see if you like the Flip4 before trading the S22U.

Haven’t really explored Bixby Routines.. I’m aware of it, but never really gotten all into it. But Good Lock… it’s what separates it from the Pixel. But Good Lock is only beneficial if you value stock launcher whereas if you like 3rd party launchers you won’t get as much from Good Lock.
