My Gear S3 is currently installing a massive update, can't wait to tinker later!

Includes continuous heart-rate monitoring.

Need to use Google Translate, but this explains some of the update https://www.computerbase.de/2017-11/samsung-gear-s3-value-pack-update/

I happen to understand German so it's OK :D

Same here. I have checked more than once and it's still on 2.3.2.

I'm now on software version 3.0.0.1. It's a huge update, changes look and feel, plus functionality. It killed the battery life initially but now seems normal again.

Will deep dive into changes this week and post about it... But I'm already happy.

The Sport is almost perfect for me, too, to be honest. MST is the only thing missing.

I went with a Gear S3 classic edition JUST TO USE SAMSUNG PAY MST. Nothing else mattered function wise on this model watch. If only the AW had a round design + MST, I'd switch back to an iPhone/AW but too bad.

40 day battery life in watch mode only. This feature alone is legit!

Gear S3 Classic.

I'm usually the last to get any software updates, my Samsung S8 is probably on Lollipop :D

Sure it will come soon.

The gear app gets updated to 2.blah, then you go into the gear app, select about gear and the update should be there waiting to download.
That worked for me....

First day using the watch. It seems as if it automatically downloaded s health right?
Either way why does it show I'm already at like 700 calories for the day and I haven't even worn the watch??
Anyway to reset this?
[doublepost=1511888387][/doublepost]Anyone else also noticed there' no s health app in the play store anymore?

Samsung Health is the name. It's still there.

Found it in the Galaxy apps but not the original google play store
[doublepost=1511907354][/doublepost]Found it and downloaded it in galaxy apps. I' guessing the watch app can run independently from the app on the device because I had the watch app before the phone app....

Because you burn calories while sleeping. By the time you wake up, you've already burned loads.

I use this justification to fill the bottomless void in my stomach.

I think on the Apple watch you could input your daily calories??
Can you do this on the Gear as well?
[doublepost=1511962697][/doublepost]Steps and calories seems off. It' only been a day or so. Just curious as to how it' setting a baseline for your calories. It could be 2k 2200, 2400... it'll be nice if there's a way to adjust this.

The S-Health app is pretty robust and does a lot of stuff. I don't know if you an directly input "calories", but you can input food; or have it flow in from something like MyFitnessPal. I believe you have to do the food on your phone, not the watch, but MyFitnessPal does have a Gear App I believe. I've never thought to input food from my watch since its something that would benefit much more from the larger screen to search food types, scan UPCs, etc.,

I haven't noticed that. I tend to create my own responses on the Gear S3 vs. the canned ones since there is both a keyboard and the ability to write. The version of AW I had only allowed canned responses.

I think they are there though...
