Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Can't wait to get it

Wonder how much it would cost here

If you can use it as 3G which carrier in the UK will have it?

I would imagine in the UK you'll be able to buy it sim free if you want so it will work with any provider. But don't expect it to be cheap, most tablets with 3g or LTE cost a lot, just look at the iPad for an example of that. Then again they may follow Googles example with the 3g Nexus 7 and charge a cheap price for it?

a better place
Because the galaxy note 10.1 sells for $499. You think the Galaxy Note 8" is going to cost more than the galaxy note 10.1?

Well here they have created an oxy moron of a device pricing wise...

If the International model with phone retails at less than the 5.5" Note 2, then the Note 2 looks over priced.

If it retails over €499 then it'll make the Note 10 look cheap and the 8 expensive ?

Really they have created quite a marketing nightmare when it comes to pricing this device.

Ah no, the WiFi only Note 8.0 will be priced at less then a Note 2 I would think, but a Note 8.0 with cellular will cost the same as the Note 10 WiFi only model, maybe a tad more.
This is all unlocked sim free pricing, because in the UK the Note 10 WiFi is around £499, the Note 2 SIM free is around £530 for the 16GB model. So it makes sense for a LTE or 3G model of the new Note 8.0 to be around the same price.

Please note I have not read any pricing facts, I am just speculating. But the iPad Mini cellular model SIM free from Apple is £369 for the 16GB model, so a NOTE 8.0 with cellular may be around the £400 mark, you never know.

What I did also notice is the Blackberry Playbook 64GB is now £119!!! And when that gets the brand new Blackberry OS which it is said to, it may be the bargain of the century!

I'm all about phablets but this is just weird. I think the Note 2 is a great size for a phablet, but it's pushing the limits of what is pocket friendly.

I believe they're pushing this as a tablet first, and foremost. No clue why they added phone functionality here, but this isn't the successor to the Note II rest assured.

I agree this is a very odd product, but at least Samsung are offering choice, more than apple are doing.

Odd product but this is the first time I am seriously considering a non iphone as a phone.

I hate staring at a 4 inch screen. I have always been tempted by the huge Note 2. Now I am drooling over the idea of an 8 inch phone. So will just use a bluetooth headset with it and as long as it works properly in my laptop bag, I will be happy.

Now if Apple counter punches with an iPad mini phone, temptations, temptations.

The best part about this is, this is what competition brings to the table.

I hope Apple never becomes Samsung just saturating the market with every size product conceivable. At least HTC got a clue and decided to simplify their product line. It would be nice to see the One give Samsung some competition but unfortunately HTC can't compete with Samsung in terms of marketing $$$ so they're screwed.

I'm underwhelmed by it. I was hoping for something more visually appealing, and while the pixel density is better then the iPad mini, I think they could have done better.

This won't have phone functionality in the US, and even if you import this device there will be no LTE. That's why I say I don't believe they're really trying to push this as a phone as much as they are a tablet.
P.S. I'm assuming you live in the States, I really can't tell.

According to the Engadget report Samsung are working on an LTE version:

Oh, and did we mention the Note 8.0's also a phone? Well, the HSPA+ global model is, anyway. LTE and WiFi-only models are currently in the works, with that latter variant headed to US shores.

Hmm it looks ok, although they got cheap with the screen resolution. Its still too big for me, I grew to hate always carrying a tablet around and love my note 2 as a tablet, leaves both hands free. If you have to lose one arm to lugging a tablet around you may as well make it a full sized 10" tablet. I don't think I'll ever go back to any tablet until they have foldable screens.

In my imagination
Eh, no interest in this. If I were to pick up a tablet, it'd be this years iPad or iPad mini or the Nexus.

I might be there with you. The price on this needs to be $299 or folks can really consider other devices that have better specs, features, and a better user experience.

Not that I am not a fan of the S-Pen and the dual screen/popup window multitasking, but I'd prefer it in a device with a more streamlined focus. Not just a bigger version of the Note II.

I get that Samsung's MO right now is just market saturation (apparently they're carpet bombing the Oscars eith commercials) but why would they release a new tablet with the S3 design language when the S4 most likely will have a different design? And what's the point of the Note and Tab? Why not just combine them into one product line?

I agree. Samsung does compete in much more markets than Apple, hence the reason for the varied options, but in the end the Note and Tab line needs to be combined, and the Galaxy line should left for the handsets, not introduced as a mixed tablet/phone mutt of a device.

Yep, I hate it when I have to actually decide what I want :D.

But choices based on increments in screen size alone? That's just more of the same from Samsung in the mobile space. Throwing crap on the wall to see what sticks.

I'm baffled by its existence.

I can see a market for this. Someone that doesn't use the phone part of his/her phone that often, but would be loathe to dispense with it completely in favour of just a tablet.

One could assume that due to their lack of phone (app) use but still the need for a smartphone, that the type of activity that they use it for would benefit from a larger handset. (Although, IMHO the Note 2 is almost perfect in that respect)

I would think that someone would look pretty ridiculous holding something so large to their ear, IMHO a bluetooth headset would be needed when on foot, bluetooth through the speakers in the car, and when at work, use of the speakerphone would be my way of using it.

Simply put, it gets rid of the phone/tablet duo, is portable and IMHO is large enough for serious work.

I wouldn't swap my iPad Mini/Nexus 4 combo for it though, Im quite satisfied with them, so it's not for me, but TBH, there are people out there that would snap this up.

You guys realiseyou dont have to use it as a phone if you dont want to? Dont know why people criticise it if you dont like it, just dont buy it. For me the bezel is too big and screen not good enough but I have a note 2 and love it so im sure alot of people will buy it and enjoy it.

No tablet ui? And an earpiece!? This is just a massive phone.

Whats the difference between ipad mini ui and iphone ui? What is it missing? Not sure what else you want on a tablet ui when the note 2 ui works well its just a couple inches bigger
