In the past. Which has already been settled. Samsung paid up. This isn't the past anymore. I'm not a die hard Samsung fanboy, I don't even like Samsung products that much. All I'm stating here is what I see as the truth. It looks like Apple copied Samsung's designs this time around.

Actually, I don't even like to use the word 'copied'. As I said previously, all phones look pretty much identical nowadays anyway. Big screen, few buttons on the side and one under the screen. Innovation first requires inspiration, and important fact I feel many posters on this forum need to understand. Even the original iPhone copied elements of other phones that already existed. A truly original idea that hasn't been influenced by actions of others is a very rare thing.
Precisely. Once we get a big innovation and new tech category and it matures, very hard to be original.

That said, the commercial and others do make Samsung look bad, and my perusal of other more android focused sites shows a lot of anger about the lack of removal battery and additional SD slots in the S6.

Then why is it nobody has claim other manufactures are copying apple? HTC, Sony, Motorola, LG, RIM, Nokia or Google? Why is it we always hear Samsung in the news copying Apple??

They're the two top heavyweights. Who doesn't love a huge battle to the death (even though neither of them have any chance of 'dying') between two industry kings? Articles like that exist to get clicks.

I guess courts love reading those articles and samsung having to pay Apple for infringing patents in those lawsuits must be heavily influenced by those articles.

Seriously? You're confusing history with present day here. There is currently no court case between Samsung and Apple that I know of at the moment. The dispute between them both was resolved. And if you knew your stuff, the US last court case actually found Apple guilty of infringing Samsung patents.

The jury also found Apple guilty of infringing one of Samsung’s patents and the South Korean corporation, which had initially sought US$6 million of damages, was awarded US$158,400.

Kindly do yourself a favour and brush up on some basic facts first before mouthing off. Also note that different verdicts were awarded in different countries. The US may have seen Samsung guilty most times, however here in the UK, Apple's case was thrown out of court, the judge claiming that there was no way people could get Apple and Samsung devices mixed up.

This thread has proved nothing but your ignorance.

MY GOD, lets take a look at the court cases then. How much after all said and done did apple have to pay samsung for copyrighted Infringements? $158,400. HOW MUCH did Samsung have to pay apple for copyrighted Infringements? $119.6 Million

This thread only proves how delirious you are, you can't see samsung has copied apple every step of the way. Everything you've said shows how ignorant you are, or you're just trolling at this point. There's been so much evidence of samsung copying apple in the past, how do you explain the 132 page internal memo?

Anyone who brings up that document, obviously has not read it.

It was not about copying Apple directly. It even said that some things should be changed so they looked LESS like Apple's design choices (even though Apple's choices were hardly original).

It was about improving the user experience, and used the iPhone for examples, but not as what exactly to copy. In other words, the document often pointed out that the iPhone had slicker buttons or better sounds, and suggested that Samsung's developers should strive to come up with similar "fun" effects.

Judging from changes to iOS over the years, there's no doubt that Apple has done similar internal comparisons with Android.

Since I prefer to work with facts I've seen myself, I went through the entire 2010 document one Saturday morning, and checked each of the 126 pages of suggestions.

• 60 suggestions were not implemented at all
• 20 were implemented, but were common phone items like button clicks
• 14 were related to Kies/iTunes and I do not use Kies
• 11 were directly "copied" into the S2/S3

The phone related items that were directly "copied" were:

1. Show Bluetooth connection type (keyboard, headphone) in BT menu
2. Make URLs, phone numbers, email addresses in documents actionable (*)
3. End Call button should be larger (not done in S2)
4. Double-tap shift key stays in uppercase mode
5. Long press on key gives alternate language characters
6. Add zoom in/out to email viewer
7. Add camera button to message editor
8. Easier switch between photo or videocam
9. Add pin-drop effect on maps
10. Use timewheel instead of buttons (Android often has both)
11. Show microphone instead of old reel-to-reel recorder (actually, HTC did this before Apple)

Not exactly earth shattering stuff, and not all (or even most) were invented by Apple.

(*) Subject of a patent fight

The amount awarded is irrelevant. Doesn't change the fact that Apple were found guilty of infringing Samsung patents. And just because Apple won most rulings in the US, this wasn't the case with the rest of the world. Samsung won in the UK, Japan and Korea.

Odear. For a starters, the iPhone wasn't the first phone with a fingerprint reader. Motorola made that. And did you seriously link me to a Cult of Mac article as proof? Lawl.

Tell that to Samsung who have to pay the fines.

Nope, doesn't change it and I never brought up that point, you did. I'm not disagreeing with you that Apple was found guilty of infringing some of Samsung's patents, but look at the huge difference in fines. I would give it to you the amount is irrelevant if we're talking about a few percent difference in amount, but the huge difference in fines should set off red flags. $158,400 vs $119.6 Million. That's 755% difference. Obviously the courts don't agree with you.

Again as I've stated earlier in this thread, there's a difference between taking an idea and creating something original from it and totally ripping off a DESIGN which you can't seem to comprehend. They even got rid of their 'swipe' finger print reader and to just holding it down like apple. Unlocking the device is like apple now, just hold down the home button to unlock.

You are certainly trying very hard as a corporate cheerleader. I will give you that. You have also accumulated quite an impressive collection of images that have been posted ad nauseam in the great Samsung vs Apple war of the earlier 2010s!

Just pointing out the obvious to the delirious people on this thread, and the fingerprint reader, the stock keyboard, earbuds and the bottom of the S6 curve design are only a week old, not from 2010.

So my real question is, what is the point of this? What are you going to accomplish showing a bunch of pictures of random stuff to some people on the forum?

Oh btw, the stock keyboard for Samsung has looked like that for a long time. Its white now because TW is themed closer to Stock Android due to material design guidelines.

Do you feel better now that you made a thread about it on a Apple forum?

Are you telling me I can't start a thread about the new Samsung Galaxy S6 was influenced by the iPhone 6 device by hardware and software? This is macrumors after all, I'm not talking about anything that is off topic. If you disagree with my views on the topic, we can discuss it.

Please don't put words in my mouth. I personally see a fair amount of rip offs that have occurred during the S3 lawsuits. However I also see a lot of garbage in your above images that are just trying to drum up controversy. I also see that lately, Samsung has moved in direction to have their own style.

I think if you truly wanted to have a discussion you would have posted something with a different title and had actual substance in your OP instead of just a picture. Instead we get a post that was setup to devolve into a Samsung bashing circle jerk fest but instead was met with opposition. You then proceeded to deflect and even moved the goal posts with the whole Ativ and back plate issue.

Then what was the point of your trolling question about if I feel better making this thread? I think if you truly wanted to have a discussion you would have posted something that adds to the on-going thread instead of asking rhetorical questions.

It wasn't trolling. I was just asking if you honestly felt better about making a Samsung bash thread on an Apple forum. How you construed that into meaning "You cannot post these kinds of threads" is beyond me.
