Still hoping they'll release an 8TB version.
I see that B&H Photo now has the 4tb T7 Shield available for pre-order. Thinking about getting a pair of these. They aren't showing a 4tb regular T7 yet, if they were cheaper then I'd go with them since I don't need something rugged.

Really would have liked to get the 4tb version, but I need space for a big project right now and two of the 2tb Shields are cheaper than one 4tb. Headed out to Best Buy right now to get a couple 2tb SSD's right now...

The 2TB Samsung T7s are $160 on Amazon right now. Very nice price for a fast, reliable portable USB-C drive.

Is it really technically difficult to make an 8TB version or is it they don't do it because there isn't sufficient demand?
