I wasn't putting words in your mouth nor arguing against your comment. I was just stating the most likely reasons why Samsung has ended the Note line.

I also think most diehard Note users are the ones that least accept change. From losing the SD slot, to the headphone port, and now no Note at all. Yea, that's gotta hurt for the diehard fans.

Even I'm turned off slightly by the S-Pen not being integrated. If it wasn't for the S-Pen case that comes with the S-Pen (which looks like an awesome and convenient design), I wouldn't have cared to purchase the S-Pen for the Fold 3. So hopefully that case is at least almost as convenient as being integrated. Cause I'm definitely not the type to carry the S-Pen separate from the phone itself.

Well I’m a die hard note user so I’m passing on it. My eyes are set on the new iPhone and maybe googles next phone. Idk. But I do love my iPad with the pencil!

Thoughts on this screen protector? Intrigued if it give the inside screen a more glass like feel, but worried on removing the preinstalled screen protector and adding more pressure to the inside screen when closed.

I completely agree with him, there needs to be a pen silo. His comments were in relation to this supplanting the Note series, which I agree that it can't fully do until you can silo the pen. If I have to carry around a pen separately, worry about it getting lost, or not having it available just when I need it, that devalues it as a note taking device IMO.
I disagree with him, as an actual user, since they swapped the silo to the other side and even though I have small hands and nails the Note 20U spen is a fiddle to get out at times.

The Fold 3 with flip case and side silo too me has more more flexible options, less of a drain on battery and can be used on other devices with options to have or not etc and even upgrade to pro

Once your use to the Fold the Note is irrelevant as are many other slab format phones :)

I am probably an idiot, but I can't seem to figure out how to mirror an android phone to my classroom projector. We have these wireless dongles installed, and every time I try to project it to the screen (I was carrying a Note phone as a school phone for a while as part of my relief planning duties, and also trying to help a colleague set up her galaxy tab), it triggers Dex which is a pain to use without a keyboard and mouse). I imagine it would be cool to walk into class, take out the Fold, unfold it into tablet mode, mirror the device to the projector, open my lesson files, and start annotating and teaching from there. Doable, but maybe a little too small for me as well, but I imagine the portability aspect might be a draw.

Also, between my iPhone and my iPad, I am using the following:

1) Apollo (reddit app)
2) Notability (to store and access pdf documents, which I use for teaching)
3) Lumafusion for video editing (but I concede that I am likely not going to be doing much of this on an iPad mini either way; use it a fair amount on my 11" iPad Pro)
4) Fantastical (subscription model aside, I am loving it as my calendar app of choice)
5) Tweetbot (twitter client)
6) Mindnode (for mindmapping)
7) Things (task management)

Other apps like liquid text (which is just better with a larger screen), Pins etc.

As I type this, I guess part of it comes from being deeply entrenched in the apple ecosystem (and the correlated pain in switching).

There's also the whole aspect of meetings where you look more "serious" with an iPad in front of you compared to a smartphone, even when I am browsing reddit and twitter while the presenter is droning on, but I guess that's another discussion for another day. ?

I'll have to give them a try when I get my Fold 3, I'm curious to see how many apps have 1) at best a tablet mode in Android, 2) no tablet mode, but Samsung's tools like their screen stretch works well, or 3) no Android app but have an equivalent app from another company. But I get it, especially with some of those specialized apps, you just need iOS' ecosystem.

If you don't need Dex you can just screen share with smart view, I do it all the time on my LG TV's.

I don't think I've been in any meetings where I look more "serious" with an iPad, lol. TBH if I'm going to get down and dirty and take a lot of notes I usually take my surface pro with me, which just blows anything else away in that arena. You can't get more "serious" than the surface pro.

Whitestone has a fairly bad reputation with their prior screen protectors, at least that's the sense I get from other forums and reddit. This one is supposed to be "glass" if I understand correctly, which begs the question of what it will do if broken and how that will affect the "soft" UTG when opening and closing. I really doubt it's really glass, probably PET. I haven't fondled the new factory screen protectors, but word on the street (including Samsung officially stating) is that they use a nice PET sp which feels much better than the Fold 2's sp. I took my Fold 2 sp's off and really loved it that way, but eventually developed micro cracks in the crease which, who knows, may have been from removing it. This time I'm playing it safe and just leaving the factor sp in place.

Bleh. Really that's the only word that I can summon that sums up how I feel about that flip case. It's bulky, it has that front portion that sticks out when the Fold is open, that's going to get bent and deformed really quickly and look terrible, and just overall looks fugly. I'm hoping that there is an aftermarket case that looks nice, but the issue will always be the retracting hinge, unless the case silos the pen on an outside lane, but that would mean the case would be wider than the phone. Yeah it's going to be almost next to impossible to get any type of svelte case on there that also houses the pen. Honestly I'm baffled why Samsung didn't at least magnetize the pen.

I personally haven't used the pens in a Note series since the 7 (yeah the ones that exploded) so I'm probably not the best authority on fit/finish on the newer series. Back then they were still passive/non powered, which I'm 100% ok with, and if you want the powered/bluetooth capable one you can just buy it separately. If you never use it and just buy the larger pen, well then you haven't really lost anything, but at least it's always available and never left at home or lost.

Well, I can (and do) take notes with my iPad Pro + Smart Keyboard + notes app, but half the time, I have some other app open in split-screen mode as well. ?

Sorry I do not understand why you think these cases get damaged I have been using Samsung flip cases for years with no issues :)

I agree if you are a dare devil and go naked :) with 1-2k phone then sure anything is bulky but for many its a no brainier option and the fact that the Fold 3 silo is removable just opens scenarios to suit all but the minimalists

Just look at how many tablets Ipads etc have been sold over the years, far more than the Note, If there was a demand for integrated silo and bundled pen it would of been adopted years ago, the bottom line is consumers are generally not steering this with their wallets

This silo issue is just a minority nit picking IMO in the face of moving forward on so many other points and the same on USC

Quite frankly I am fed up with these one sided stance on reviews, where are the demerits because Iphone and others do not have stylus etc etc, sorry but commentary must be level based and not one sided perspective taken by many reviewers :)

It's one of those things where... if users had the choice of an integrated S-Pen or a bigger battery, I would think majority will go with the bigger battery.

And Samsung deciding to take a page out of Apple book with the standalone stylus (Apple Pencil), it would be nice if the S-Pen is included with smartphones similar to how it is on tablets. But Samsung choosing to take the charger and headphones out of their boxes... I doubt they'll ever include the S-Pen with their smartphones.

Yep I do not disagree and this Apple policy on accessories and multiple device buying is one of the worst anti consumer traits now being replicated by others to remain competitive on price point

Apple have very successfully proved that the wealthy demographic of top tier phone consumers etc continue to buy regardless of lack of inclusions or bundles or missing features that require second device etc

The Apple faithful are unshakable even in the light of recent privacy concerns etc. The Eco entrapment and marketing has worked so well it's almost impossible to break even by multiple government consumer watchdogs actions etc

It's a shame Samsung and others are following suit to some degree but when a company is so successful in marketing you would be foolish not to follow some practices

I am too. I canceled my Fold 3 order. Just couldn't get past the small issues it has for that large sum of money. Better cameras, wider front display, battery life subpar, and so on. I will wait to see what happens next. My 12 Pro max will get me by for now. I still have a Note 20 work phone too, but I should of kept my Ultra.......before the 12 pro max.

I’m waiting for third hand production of spen via Amazon like I did with my pencils for my iPad. I’m a true note user so I’m hoping next year they integrate it into phones but I did order the fold 3 and watch and I’ll see how I like them. On a side note. Why do people pay for movies/tv shows?

The cover screen isn’t big enough, way too narrow, this is what they should’ve made.
