And? If you want the new one why not get it? It's not as the cost is of any significance when selling your old one and updating. I rather get more satisfied with my computer then have a few hundred extra in the bank, money isn't everything in the world.

So what exactly gives you more satisfaction in the new one, other than the fact that it's newer? Safari and Mail aren't any faster. People just seem to be too fussed about having the "latest and greatest", even though they notice zero difference.

I would say money is far important than having the latest MBA, i.e. a slightly bigger virtual penis. It's different if you really benefit from the features in the new model. Then it can be justified. Just upgrading for the sake of having the latest one is ridiculous.

A new, clean computer every year? It's not about having the latest, more the satisfaction one gets from waiting, reading the rumours and then waiting for the delivery.

You also get a few things every new release. This time one thing that everyone will notice is the backlit keyboard and TB port.

How is more digits on the bank account more important then something you use every day? You must be very obsessed with money to get any satisfaction from having an extra hundred per year go into your savings account. Money is just money, I try to make as much as I can of it, but to sit on it doesn't make me happy.

Are new gadgets the only thing you get satisfaction from? There are millions of other things you could spend your money on. Go for a vacation with family/friends for instance.

It's not my money so be my guest to buy whatever you want it it. In my opinion upgrading every year is still ridiculous though. I rather sit on the extra money than spend it on something useless. If the old one still does its job fine, then I have no need to fork out more money.

Why not do both? Spending an extra 100-200 bucks a year won't make me have to choose not to do anything because of financials, I save a good amount every month regardless.

Life isn't only about needs, it's about wants too :). I don't need to buy a new computer every year, in the same way I dont need to eat out now and then. I want to do those things though, and then ill do them. If I want to go abroad ill do that too.
