I just purchased the above card and noticed that it stated on the box the card has Dual BIOS, one setting is for Gaming and the other for Compute. The included manual doesn't reference anything at all regarding this (there is only a small piece of paper included detailing where the switch is), I couldn't find any reference in Sapphires website either about this particular card.

The "Dual BIOS" reference is on a sticker rather than printed on the box, is this a legit product? Purchased this new from Newegg directly (not 3rd party vendor from Newegg.com either) so hoping I didn't get some kind of knockoff or weird?

DeviceID - 0x67df
RevisionID - 0x00e7

Ran a quick Cinebench test to see what is the difference between Game vs Compute setting, appears to be no difference at all from the looks of it.

RX580 (Game vs Compute)
62.99 FPS / 61.85FPS
1610cb / 1601cb

Pondering if this was even a good upgrade compared to my 7950 Mac Edition which had similar numbers, gained 5GB of memory but lost boot screen in 4K at 30Hz.

Wait, you're telling me that your RX 580 actually has a dual bios?

Can you provide photos of the card itself, front and back, as well as the bios switch...if you don't mind.

Those stickers scream out 'fake', but I'm curious to see what the card itself looks like.

Here’s the only other mention of the BiOS switch in the box

It has a physical switch? Man that’s weird are you sure you got a legitimate rx580, not some old card flashed with a modified bios?

Only way to find out is taking the cooler apart and look at the chip but that would void my warranty and return priviledge with Newegg so probably won’t do that...

Compute looks like mining mode.

Trust me, you were benchmarking the CPU not the GPU.

Unless you upgrade to a faster CPU, of course it won't show any improvement.

If you want to compare the compute performance, better to use Luxmark.

If you want to compare 3D performance, better to use Unigine Valley.

This is really what I want. Apple officially supported dual slot wide OOTB card with dual BIOS.

So that I can test whatever ROM / mod I want.

Could you please show us what is the frame buffer/personalite of your card? (System Information > PCI > Radeon RX 580 > Name)

I am 99% sure this card will have a new part number which is not Apple blessed. Hopefully I am wrong.

With a dual BIOS, is it now possible to flash the RX 580 to get a boot screen? Or is this still impossible because of the architecture of the GPU?

Thanks, but not looking for myself. (Already have my approved Sapphire Pulse RX 580 8GB purchased last year.)

Pulse RX 580 8GB models are currently out of stock from traditional resellers in the US right now and was asking for possible additional recommendations for people who are asking on this forum. Still may be best for them to wait out the stock shortage that should resolve by end of month.

Got it. Amazon has 5 in stock, albeit from third party seller Etechtopia, but at $299.99 which seems high; $55 more than mine cost on 12 December 2018.
