I have the new Pulse RX 580 8GB V2 and the previous V1 w/o the dual bios switch. The switch toggles from Gaming to a bit slower and quieter Computing mode. For my purposes (on one of the 5,1s running a Pro Tools rig) I think the Computing mode will be more that enough and will save some power. Does any know if the earlier edition runs by default in Gaming mode?

There is no indication on the packaging for 11265-05-20G exactly which version it is running, but assume V1 is the gaming mode as default (only available) based on dual bios note:

Dual BIOS Optimized
When switched over to the Compute BIOS, the system may become unstable in gaming applications
To ensure that the settings of the BIOS are loaded into the system, a graphics driver re-installation is recommended

Thanks! I thought so, but I couldn't find the info. Its a nice addition and the new lower pricing is great.

There is no "official" lower pricing and entirely at retailer's discretion at the moment. Most legitimate retailers are averaging around $250 for a new unit now that they are back in stock. SOME retailers advertise as low as $210, but those are not actually in stock right now. Several resellers on secondary market are still around $300. Suggest to shop around if you're in the market or setup a price alert.

Can someone please tell me that this pluse v2 is better or nitro+ is still better?!

I assume you mean which is the better choice. For most people, I BELIEVE the Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX 580 8GB (v1 or v2) is the better choice.

Why... ? It’s just my personal opinion. It’s the one Apple initially pushed for, and the one that seems (could be wrong here, my opinion) to be the easiest to successfully install.

Only YOU know what’s better for YOU.

The Sapphire was working fine on my Mac Pro 5.1 2010 running Mojave 14.6 with two displays (2560x1440).

But since putting in 2 extra PCIe cards yesterday and trying to install video editing software I’ve got black screens. I had the Bios set to Computer. Should I set it to Games instead - does that make the fans work harder, since I’m guessing heat may be the problem?

Not sure if gaming mode is mode aggressive on cooling. But recently, I did receive reports about only gaming mode has the UEFI GOP that can work with OpenCore to show boot screen on cMP indeed. So, apparently, gaming mode has better compatibility on cMP. It's nothing hurt to try that anyway.

It won’t give you the boot screen so what would the point be?
You get HEVC decoding.
Flash the card to part number 113-4E353BU-O4E or 113-4E3531U-O4V, then macOS will assign Orinoco framebuffer to it natively, including HEVC decode capability.
Other part numbers of the same card didn't used to be assigned the Orinoco framebuffer.
That may have changed now, but haven't used my cMP in a long time now so wouldn't know. This is a rather old thread.
