Any way to prevent retina scaling from affecting performance?

I’ve noticed that if I scale my monitor resolution down (in mac os settings) coronas performance takes a big hit. Mac OS has a little warning about this in it’s settings. Is there any way to prevent this or at least detect it and run windowed mode if the user is scaling their screen. It...

He scales UP, so it's quite obvious he's going to suffer from poor performance. I believe the whole point of this thread is that the performance drops when scaling down from optimal resolution. Which, if we remember the CRT screens, shouldn't be the case.

When you go to a lower resolution, macOS scales up before it scales down.

Good to know. That's even more bizarre than MacOS not being able to do fractional scaling.

If you already know, then you should also know it's not an Apple Silicon or Intel thing. It's a macOS thing.

If it doesn't affect Intel based Macs, why would macOS give the following warning on Intel based Macs? Just for fun?

it is a how performant is your computer thing

which is why i was surprised that my intel computer does not suffer any performance loss yet some apple silicon computers (apparantly) do, since the hype seems to be that apple silicon based computers are much more performant than intel computers

Geez! How many times do I have to repeat it??? It has nothing to do with Intel or Apple Silicon. It's all about macOS.

i have never once disagreed with this.

all i have said is that i do not experience any performance issues and i happen to be on intel. others experience issues and happen to be on apple silicon. this surprised me because i was under the impression that apple silicon was always more performant than intel. this suggests that it is not

incidentally i would suspect it’s the gpu doing the work here, so it would probably be more accurate to talk about amd being more performant than apple silicon
