I would like it to be true. I didn't get it from anywhere. I am asking if it is true or not.

When I read the OP's title and the title of the first article weeks ago I got the impression the new chip and new OS are taking more of our data than ever before.

So now I want to know (because I was considering buying an M1 machine).
Does it capture and take more of my personal data than High Sierra on my Macbook Pro did?

Yes or no?
And how do you know?
You are a troll account for the OP aren't you? You have to be. Read through the multitudinous posts from the experts. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

so, it's just some random assumption on your part, and not grounded in info found online, or elsewhere.

anyway, read davefromcampbelltown's reply, that pretty-much sums it up. whatever else is true, we get more security with each new OS, not less.

Thank you for your replies Hoff!

It seems like MacOS Big Sur is a huge leap as it's the first 11.0 MacOS and departs from the long used MacOS 10.x generation so I'm curious about what it does differently.

The M1 chip is also a big departure from the Intel CPU's Apple has been using for a long time...

Aside from the MacOS Big Sur software update, does the M1 chip do anything differently in terms of handling user privacy/user security?

You read through Apple’s documentation I assume?

Thank you for posting the link Mr_Brightside! I'm reading it now.

"Hardware security" is interesting to me because it seems pointless to be concerned about MacOS software security or Windows 10 software security if the hardware device isn't secure?

In a van down by the river
I'm trying to say that there doesn't seem to be much point in having the best software security if the hardware device itself is insecure like if the hardware device was sending back keystrokes to someone on the Internet.
You are giving yourself more excuses to keep your endless research going, which means you don't have to make a decision. Can you not see what you are doing? You do the same thing with your purchase threads.

I think it is time for you to stop reviving your threads and let them die. All you are doing is going in endless circles and including forum members for the ride. It's not fair to you or the forum members.

And forum members, you aren't helping the situation when you keep responding. This needs to stop.

Thank you for your reply Apple_Robert.

I need to make it clear that I'm very sincere in my quest to find answers so that I can feel safe and secure so I'm sorry if I come across as being careless, but this is truly a serious problem I'm trying to solve. ☹️ ☹️ ☹️

EDIT:

The only reason I'm posting in this thread is because I didn't want to waste forum space on MacRumors so I thought it'd be better to just post in the thread that already exists... 😢
