I have to agree that they are lightning fast. Mine is definitely faster than my dual G5 2.0 w/ 1.5GB ram and it only has 1GB of RAM. I intend to max the ram to 2GB over the next 3-6months to see how fast it can go. :)

I just got mine a yesterday and ordered it with 2 GB of RAM and this thing is unbelievably quick. Much faster then my previous Rev. B 2.0 Ghz iMac, although it only had 512 of RAM so I'm sure the jump in RAM is a pretty big factor as well. WoW runs about the same as it did before, sometimes a little better. I'm hoping this week will be the update to Universal Binary to see how well this thing can really perform.

I played with the new iMac today in the Apple store just to check it out first hand.

I must say it is noticeably faster. iLife just screamed.

I am not in the market for a new desktop right now, but I will upgrade my wife's mac mini with either the new mini or an iMac this year. I hope the mini is a big update since my wife wants to keep her 23" display and prefers that over the iMac.

Personally speaking, the iMac experience makes me look forward to the new PowerBooks. Here I think the speed difference will be most noticeable given the FSB issues with the PowerBooks.

I am planning on upgrading the PowerBook in early 2007, but I highly doubt I will last that long. I predict that I will buy the MacBook Pro when it comes with a 17" screen. (Assuming there aren't reports of issues with it.)

Either way, I think the move to Intel is going to be great.

Who wants to perform a quick test?

I am extremely curious to see how well flip4mac works on the new intel mac's... Could someone try to playback this hidef video from M$

http://download.microsoft.com/downl...0-454a-8002-27647b6f87fd/LewisClark_HiDef.exe

Granted it will need to be renamed .zip and extracted before you can play it.

On my current powerbook its like watching a terribly botched slideshow and sometimes it even locks up the entire powerbook. I hope to compare what your results are to my experience. On the plus side you get to test just how powerful these core duo trips are when 3rd party hidef files are played back.

Flip4mac isn't currently supported on the Intel Macs.

this is good to hear. We all know that mo ram is mo betta. but wont it be nice when all of our common apps go universal and we dont have to worry about the memory hog that rosetta is! Soon rosetta should actually become obsolete, it was just a quick fix for a temporary problem i think.
