I have a 2017 15" MBP and just had to have the swollen battery replaced this summer at my expense. Original keyboard had been 100% problem free, but as you know, had to be replaced with top case for replacing the battery. New keyboard is an epic fail, and after they had my MBP for two weeks to replace the battery, they say it will be another two to three weeks to replace the keyboard. Absolutely ridiculous that so much has to be touched just just replace a battery. Given the time window, I'm going to see if I can hold off having the keyboard done until early next year, hopefully turnaround time will become quicker. If not the case, then as soon as M1 16" hits the market, the keyboard can be replaced after I've moved over to a new device.

If they replace by a new top case, should I see that back to 0 woth a new battery ?
I've turned in 2 of the affected MBPs and both got a brand new battery with 0 cycles in the top case. The old batteries were just about 3 years old at that point.
The top case also has stickers covering the TB ports etc. While the aluminium metal itself might be recycled, it's 100% pristine without any doubt whatsoever.
You get the last generation of keyboard that's a bit more resistant then the original one as well, but not the "magic" keyboard obviously.

The repair program is for 4 years from date of purchase, so chances are they will require you to pay to get the keyboard replaced. Given that the replacement parts are as defective as the original parts, I would not put any money into this computer.
