Screen going black

Am I the only who's iPad's screen randomly will go black?? I have to hit the home button and then go back to whatever I was doing to fix it...REALLY ANNOYING! The iPad isn't frozen the screen just goings off it seems almost. Is anybody else having this same problem or is there something wrong with my iPad :(? Or could this be fixed in a future software update?
 
Do you mean going black while you are using it? Or after it sits for a few minutes? If it's the latter, that's just the power saver function. You can adjust the time in Settings --> General --> Auto Lock.

If it's going black literally while you are using it...ugh...that sounds like something is defective to me.

Yea....it just randomly goes black while I'm in the middle of doing something. Not cool! I'm going to be so upset if I find out something is wrong with my iPad! Love this thing....

It has happened to mine, but it occurs usually when I am turning it on--it goes dark and then I have to turn it back on. It is more like a random off.

Does it ever happen to you when youre in the middle of doing something?

Nope I'll give that one a shot now. It's just hard to pinpoint if there's a problem or not as it happens so randomly. Could go all day with none but then the next day 3 or 4 times the screen will just go black....

What app are you using when this happens?

It doesn't really depend which app I am using....could be anyone one of them. Definitely happens while I'm surfing the web on safari so it doesnt have to glitches in third party apps
 
I have the same problem. Screen just randomly turns off. There is really no identifiable reason. It's totally random. I'm going to try a full restore this evening.

Finally somebody with the same problem! Please tell me how the full restore goes, hopefully it will fix our problem

I don't get it...you said you were going to try a restore two days ago, but now you're going to just wait for someone else to do it and report back?

You must not be that bothered by this problem.

I'll report back, although it may take a little while to determine if the problem is actually fixed. It's so random I'll just have to wait and see.

I did the restore immediately that night and I am still sometimes having the same issue so I was wondering how it went for that individual!

That's exactly my issue, I guess we both will be playing wait and see as we monitor our ipads....
 
I've also experienced this issue of having my screen go black at random times. A simple press of the home button usually brings it right back, but it is annoying. I was having this issue prior to jailbreaking, and it is still present after using Spirit. I will say that I haven't noticed it happening for the last few days, so I've shrugged it off.

I probably will just take my iPad in and exchange it for a new one. I really don't want my screen to just black out for good when I'm out traveling.
