This one is called Spintires. It's really unusual. You get a selection of clunky old Soviet era trucks and some forest environments to drive them in.
vlcsnap-2014-06-18-22h54m31s61.png

The star of the show is the realistic physics, which has mud and water moving pretty much as you'd expect mud and water to behave, flowing and forming deep furrows. Even the tires deform convincingly when they go over rocks.

The aim is to pick up some logs from one side of the map and deliver them to the other. But you can easily become bogged down and have to fetch a second truck to winch yourself out. When all your vehicles are buried in the mud, you just start over. It's surprisingly addictive.

Farming simulator 2013. I get bored a lot and like to mess with traffic while waiting for crops to grow.

Couple more I've played. This is Arma 3, a vast military sim that's extremely complicated and unforgiving. I've had it for ages and it never really clicked with me until I got to this mission, where you're washed up on a beach and have to sneak inland past enemy patrols to regroup with allies. Really tense.

This one's called Next Car Game. It's still a bit rough but it was dirt cheap on the developer's website. It reminds me of the old Destruction Derby for Playstation. I'm sure it will be okay when it's finished.

This one is the reason I'll never buy an episodic game again. It's an adventure game called Kentucky Route Zero, and the first of five episodes came out early last year with the promise that the whole thing would be complete by the end of the year. Only two episodes actually came out in 2013, and the third was released a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't download it as the game is a distant memory for me. Still, those first two episodes were pretty good.

I recently bought a joystick and throttle for Elite Dangerous, then decided to stop playing Elite (despite it being very good) as it's only a beta and all progress is about to be deleted. While I wait for the finished game, I've been playing a flight sim called Prepar3d.

It's made by Lockheed-Martin, a modern version of the now-abandoned Microsoft Flight Simulator, and it looks absolutely amazing. The last flight sim I played was F/A-18 Interceptor on the Amiga, so this is quite a step up.

It has scenery for the entire world, and something like 25,000 airports to land on. The first picture is Lisbon, the second is somewhere in Alaska, and the one below is Corsica, glimpsed through the corner of a window, shortly before I crashed into a mountain. Probably the most impressive piece of software (I guess it's not really a game) that I've ever seen.

Oh, I am loving this thread! :)

I'll edit and update with screenshots when I get home from work. Thanks for the touch of Skyrim while I'm in the office!

Is that one of those Ultima Underworld games? If so, how is it? I remember wanting to play it when I was a kid but my computer didn't meet the system requirements at the time.

It is Ultima Underworld (the first one, the Stygian Abyss).

It's really dated, the controls are pretty poor, and all items/monsters are flat sprites vice 3d rendered. This game came out as a dungeon simulator. At the same time as Wolfenstein 3D showed everyone what a fluid 3D shooter was like, UU boasted huge color palettes, water, flying, looking up/down, jumping, spells.

You can get these to run on anything DosBox runs on, and GOG.com usually has the pair up for a couple bucks. If for nothing else than nostalgia, or to see the roots of what would eventually become Arena (the first Elder Scrolls game), I highly recommend UU. I've come back to it plenty of times over the years and am still amazed by the complexity of the character building and the dialog options with NPCs.

Know also that it was developed by Looking Glass studios, which then went on to produce the System Shock games, which led to Bioshock. Serious talent at the beginning of the genre.

Hah, I wound up looking it up and saw everyone complaining about the controls. However yeah, it looks like it was way ahead of its time in terms of the engine and freedom. May give it a shot off GOG once I've cleared out this queue of other games first.

Batman Arkham Origins. Looking forward to Arkham Knight. Made a photoshop psd to display my screenshots in NVidia Surround. This is how I game. :)

If anyone is wondering what the text is in the left hand corner, I was running OSD to view FPS, memory, and temps on my 3x GTX780 cards.

I personally use BenQ XL2420T monitors, but I used an image of the BenQ BL2411PT to make my screenshot.psd file... since BenQ had a pic of it in Eyefinity/NVidia surround.

Playing some Mass Effect 2....
