I'm still using Netsanity on all our teens devices. I don't see the need to change as it has been the only software that my kids cannot disable. The new Apple controls are useful but not enough for what we need.

The problem with Netsanity and all the other parental control software on iOS is that they scramble apps when you block them if they were in folders. Netsanity have just confirmed this is the case as well.

Another bug/workaround my kids found. They figured out they could text the YouTube links to each other and then watch them from inside message during the restricted time I set. I can't even be mad at them because I did the same stuff when I was kid, lol

The fix I did was just add message to the restrictions.

The real issue I have with all this is that real companies pay for security testers to find issues and fix them. Apple appears to think that they can rely on us.

A half-decent security company given the last of "break this" would find all of the issues and then apple could fix them.

A fix Apple said work for some folks is to activate two factor authentication on the child device you are having the issue with and restart. Don’t have the iPad we are having issues with to test this yet.

I set up ScreenTime for both of my kids, one works perfectly, and the other just shows the "As this device is used, screen time will be reported here" message.

The iPhone 6S works, the iPhone XS Max is the one with the issue.

They were both on iOS 12, and both are members of my family group.

The funny thing is that the limits that I established are enforced on his device, and when he runs out of time, I do recieve his requests for more time. So the configuration is mostly working, I just can't see the chart and stats for his usage in my device (he can see the info on his phone).

I updated all devices to 12.1 tonight, but it doesn't seem to have fixed this issue.

All that said, I really like this new feature. It's going to relieve a lot of conflict in my family, and hopefully teach my kids how to moderate their usage.

+1 only I am on an iPhone 7 Plus and my son is on an iPhone SE

Already enabled and it still doesn’t show the current usage of screen time data.

Two factor is not a fix. Two kids here, one with 2 factor and one without, same problem of no usage stats.

Same here!

Yup, we’re having the same issue here. All the kids are in iOS12. Both parents have iPhone XS on iOS12. We can set limits but cannot see actual activity. It’s very frustrating! Hope Apple solves this soon or we’ll be returning to a 3rd party parental control solution (Curbi.com), which has its own issues but nothing as ridiculous as this.
Same here . . .

wbile screenTime has its uses. It’s not for the majority of us. Too much info that has little value

So i now have both children working fine under my wife's account - she can see their usage and control restrictions etc.

I however still can't. I wonder if there is a problem with the Family "Organiser" role (which I am) vs the "Parent/Guardian" role which my wife is.

Tried pretty much everything - signing in and out of iCloud accounts, rebooting, reset all settings etc (which is a pain),upgraded everyone to 12.1 yesterday - but still no good. Guess it's a bug that will hopefully get fixed.

Spoke to Apple today and they confirmed it is a known bug for the "Organiser" of a family. It will be fixed at some point in the future.

Good to know! After multiple conversations and sending multiple logs I gave up with support. They super nice but it wasn’t going anywhere. Upgraded to an XR from my X and have the same issue. It’s def an organizer issue but not for everyone for some reason.

Some bug...setting it up doesn't even work. Downtime doesn't work. We have it set on my step-daughter's iPhone 8 and nothing using family share. As if her phone doesn't even care. My only guess is that I'm on 12.1.1 beta 3 and she's on 12.1. I never set it up when I was on 12.1. Doubt it's the issue, but you never know.

Well today’s update seems to have fixed it for me. At least for now. I can see kids devices and usage and set limits. Let’s see how it goes.

I had the same problem, whenever I went on the screen to see the screentime of my kids, it basically told me that information will be shown when the person uses.

All you need to do is this - WAIT

Wait on this screen for some time and it will eventually show up. I guess it takes time to get the info off icloud, or something. But, in short - it works, just give it some time.

Hope this helps

Hi

I must be doing something wrong but I cannot seem to get screen time working on my kids iPad. I've followed the instructions and can see them in Family on my iPad, but none of the settings seem to trickle down, plus I can't see their usage either.

Any ideas what I should check - done the usual signing in and out of iCloud etc?

TIA

Thanks Vishal - however, the waiting didn't work - it also didn't show their devices just a blank space. Since IOS 12.1.1 update that came out today though everything started working perfectly. I had spoken to Apple last week who said a fix was in the works - so I'm hoping this was it. It mainly seemed to affect the Organiser of the Family, the Parent role worked fine.

Best

No. Just my devices and it started working fine. Have updated kids devices now too and everything is still working.

Hi!

I had the same problem that many described here. I am organizer, two kids. I can make settings for both kids. One child shows up with stats on my phone, but the other one shows no stats. I run IOS 12.1.2 on all.

Then I tried this: For the child with no stats, I used my phone to set the downtime such that the child’s phone was now in downtime. Then, using the childs phone, I tried to launch a game. The phone made me send a request to the organizer. On my own (organizers) phone I granted 15 minutes. From then on the stats appeared!

Try it. It could be coincidence, or this actually helped. (Another bug, the one where I see the wrong name for my childs phone, remains though.)

Cheers, John

Is the setting clock forward in time loophole still supposed to be working?

Not sure if it’s iMessage in the cloud which was the set up for phones with issue or iMessage in general, but when kids keep pushing date forward incoming texts & iMessages during that time are getting out of order when time corrected and iMessage notifications are not happening until the actual date and time it was set too when last texts arrived using a future time. We can sometimes delete the “future texts” to get notifications working. Even if another device on same account (& using iMessages in the cloud) doesn’t have iMessages listed out of order or even have the texts listed with future times the notifications still seem messed up.

We turned iMessages in the cloud off on the devices for now (but need the space back on devices), but we have to wait for actual time to catch up to texts on one of the devices or delete a bunch of different group texts to see if it will at least unlink notification issue on the devices that didn’t have their time messed with.
