I’m wanting to put together other people ideas about the next iPhone SE design.

Please post what you think is the ideal design, and whether if you want LCD or OLED.

I think the SE is just going to be exactly what it is until it becomes more expensive to manufacture the older iPhone 8 parts than it does to sell them.

Every year there’s a new rumor that a new SE in the style of the iPhone 11 is coming, and it never happens. I’ll believe it when I see it, but I fully expect this SE to last for a few years now that it has 5G with the next one being another bare minimum parity update like the SE3 was.

Not that I care that much, as I’m not that kind of customer, but I wish Apple would actually take the time to make a lower-cost iPhone that’s designed from the ground up like the 6a or Galaxy A series, instead of being last decade’s flagship but with this decade’s chip and nothing else.

I would take any of them except the 8 design. LCD all the way! I think it’ll probably be the Xr but having the 12/13 design would be awesome. I don’t think they would do that though.

Popular demand + low-cost = iPhone XR

None of the other options make sense.

Apple isn’t going iPhone 8 again as the form factor is no longer competitive. And it doesn’t make sense to take an OLED iPhone and redesign it to take a thicker LCD.

I can see where we all disagree on some of the particulars. For me I don’t want touch ID in any form. Having had devices that have both I so much prefer Face ID on the phone.
Just my two cents

I don’t think even Apple would dare use the 8 design now. XR is the least they can get away with, so it’ll probably be that

I don’t think it will. Apple have never used a fingerprint sensor underneath the screen.
They can use TouchID in the on/off button like they did with the iPad Mini 6.

Options are good, they can give us both… not everyone like FaceID.

At this point, all credible info points to Face ID. Given it's a 2024 product, everything else in the iPhone lineup will be pill. So Face ID notch makes sense.

Heck Android has had it for a whiile. There Face is still poor, but my touch on power is flawless

EDIT: On an iPhone I would love to have both, especially if you could pick what to use each for. I want touch for device unlock, AP and new apps, and Face for the rest

Those of us shopping for the least expensive iPhone, dont really care if the iPhone 8 design gets rehashed. Some of us think it’s peak iPhone (LCD, Touch ID). So long as it has a modern processor, sufficient RAM and enough storage and a pretty good camera — along with a cheapest price— then it’s good.

iPhone X chassis with aluminium rails and led screen would be my ideal SE4, but realistically its probably going to be the XR body as it requires no re-tooling which is right out of the SE playbook we have seen so far.

Personally and as an older user I prefer the home button for speed/payment/opening etc. facial recognition takes too long. Size wise, I don’t want it any bigger than it is. What I would like is slightly better camera performance, if and when the chip is upgraded. SE4 would continue to sell well if it remains ostensibly unchanged. If one wants a bigger and better phone there is plenty of other iPhone choice.
