These Thunderbolt vulnerabilities are not novel and have been known for some years. With power (direct memory access) comes great responsibility (vulnerabilities). The solution would probably be disabling or removing those ports.

So far, I've not needed to use any of those ports. My peripherals (3 external SSDs, Canon Printer, Logitech mice, Apple keyboard, and seldom used DVD player) all work fine with USB connectivity.
