we still have to get a golden master version before we see it go public and gold master wont be till a media event.

Seems a long time waiting for iOS 5.1 upgrade.

There is no way it will be released on or before Feb 1st. We still have to get to a GM version.
This would be my assumption too. I guess 5.1 will hit iTunes in the next few days now
In my opinion, looking at past releases for Apple, there are too few features listed for a 5.1 release, the patch notes look more like a 5.0.2.
That suggests there are features hidden in the back ground, major somethings, like how Apple hid Siri in 5.0 from the public.
I'm thinking we see another beta and a GM with tweaks, and then 5.1 launches in March adding support for a new iDevice.
Now that we are nearing the end of Jan, if they release 5.1 now, it will be a bit unusual short gap until 5.2 to add new iDevice support.

who even knows for sure if we will get another 5.0.x release.. they could make us all wait till 5.1 in february or march or whenever it is.. yes i know there is an exploit that needs to be patched.
Apple does not release GMs for .x updates. While a beta may actually be a GM, it is not labeled as such.
5.1 is pointless, only minor bug fixes and that's that... you can get a 2G toggle with sbsettings (GSM only)
