What's the real advantage of multi tasking? My issue with it got solved with push for messaging. Everything else that needs to multi task does for me. Maybe pandora as some people have mentioned? I'm just asking though because I don't see the huge need for it other than just to have it.

Push is ok for some things, but say you're playing a game and you get a message, you have to close the game, reply, and reload your game. If they reply, repeat the process. I get that is not an issue for everyone but for a lot of people it would just be a nice addition to an already great OS.

Then the problem would be solved by letting the messaging service run on top of others temporarily. Kind of like the iPad style pop-ups.

Or just by allowing multitasking of a few apps at a time. There are other messaging apps than just the standard iPhone one. Do you actually not want multitasking for some reason? Or have I misunderstood you?

I can't really see the purpose. Right now all the apps are already accustomed to iPhone's limitations and this system works fairly well. Full-on multitasking just eats the battery.

I don't have anything against it but I won't feel disappointed if it's not implemented.

I can't really see the purpose.

a few purposes:
- streaming music in the background
- switching back and forth between apps when one of them has a long load time or is password protected
- apps that have not adequately implemented state preservation

I am not in the hardcore pro-multitasking camp. I think with good state preservation, fast enough load times, and push notifications, you mostly don't need multitasking. But even all three of those don't solve the pandora problem or the gps navigation problem.

Bottom line, multitasking is not the be all and end all that some people pretend, but if there's enough RAM for the system not to grind to a halt and enough battery life for a normal day's use, I can't see why you wouldn't do it.

Well, I would be disapointed if it didn't have true multi tasking. Jail broken phones seem to do it just fine. I can't understand why the mighty apple can't figure it out.

I guess if the new iPhone gets a front facing camera, it can be use during find my iPhone that way you can record the person who has your iPhone and have it sent to your computer.
