So from what I'm understanding if i paid for the phone outright and sell it NIB the sim will be useless to the buyer. They won't be able to do anything related to my number or account because they will have to provide the account details like a SSN?

By the way, original poster if you are still selling the phone I will give you $500 cash. Boom, final offer lol.

I'm in the same boat and was contemplating contacting Verizon Friday to have the two 'extra' iPhones I bought removed from my account, thinking that may avoid any prompt for account details if someone tries to activate on the pre-installed SIM.

Watching this thread. May come down to reviewing reports on Friday as people begin to activate their new devices.

I am doing the same thing.
I somehow ordered 4 iPhone X and I only have 2 lines through my Verizon account.
3 have been shipped for a 11/3 delivery and one has a 11/17 delivery. I will probably cancel that 4th order unless demand remains high at that date.
So I will have 1 for sale on Friday. All were paid in full.

I plan to open the box, remove the sim and power on to confirm it works to the buyer. I will not activate or sign into my iCloud. Sell through CL and meet a local buyer at a public place with plenty of cameras like inside a Starbucks, gas station or bank branch.

How much are you trying to sell it for?

How much are you trying to sell it for?

Most of the 64gb iPhone X I am seeing on craigs list are asking $1400 to $1800. Verizon iPhone X look to be asking a little higher because its unlocked and will work on any carrier.

I will see if the price changes on Friday but I will probably list mine for $1500.
If someone local can pick up quickly on Friday I will take $1400.

As long as you cancel the line used to buy the phone before selling it you will be fine. No need to open the box.

If the line is still open when you sell it. It will transfer service to the new SIM as soon as the new iPhone is powered on. And it doesn't even matter if the sim is in that phone or not.

A couple years ago I took my wifes upgrade. Soon as the phone came in I popped out the new sim and put mine in it before even powering up. The phone worked no problem for me and my line but my wife called from the land line about an hour later saying her phone stopped working. Her service automatically switched to the new sim even though it wasn't in any phone at the time. Easily fixed by calling Verizon.

Ok, I have a similar question. On launch day for the X, Verizon somehow sent me an extra phone and I am not currently paying for it. I have a extra iPhone X in the box that has not been turned on. This shows up no where on my bill. Can I sell this phone? Do I have to remove the sim first?

Be an honest person. Return the phone to Verizon.

What may happen is Verizon eventually figures out what happened and charges you for it. They may have a regular schedule of reconciling what was sent out with what has been billed.
