Its like magic

It has been a bit since people first mentioned the option of posting to a web gallery on their phone and I have been frequently checking and saw nothing until this minute-there it is! Almost as magical as those warrentless wiretaps...

Will auto download to my iPhone as well

For those of you that are doing this could explain what the following means and if it actually works. I.E. If you add to your Web Gallery from another source will it "auto download to your iPhone"?

"Will auto download to my iPhone as well"

>>>
10:36AM: "Now I want to show how easy it is for other people to contribute to my .Mac web gallery. Phil Schiller has his iPhone, has snapped a photo, gonna send to my gallery right from his iPhone. Went right into my .Mac web gallery. Will auto download to my iPhone as well. Going back to my gallery. So that is .Mac Web Gallery."
>>>

It seems to me that you need a .mac account AND iLife '08. I am logged into .mac but when I click on the create a web gallery link I am sent to an advertisement. Thats a bit nutty!

you have to first create the web gallery with iPhoto '08, then, the iPhone will have a choice of a gallery to upload to.

All you need is to configure a .mac email account on your iphone in settings.

no other changes...

Another useless feature

While some might get excited about this feature, you gotte remember that our iPhones STILL dont have copy/paste, MS office support, multiple calander support...etc. etc...

Apple has to get on the ball and fix the essentials before they indulge in frivolous updates like this one!

my opinion

Except you have to have iLife '08 ....

No you don't.

Never plugged my iPhone into my computer, never had iLife installed on this computer, and the second i added a .mac account on the iPhone, the option showed up.

Odd, I have had a .Mac e-mail account with the iPhone since day one. I even synced my phone and turned it on and off today. I still don't get the option. I've been connected via AirPort and Edge while checking e-mail, and I have even turned the account on and off again in the preferences.

Try deleting the account, turning your iPhone on and off, and then re adding the account.

I do have .mac, I do not have iLife 08 or a .mac web page or photo folder set up, I have not rebooted my phone. I have not set up mobile devices on .mac, but I just checked and there it is...wasn't there earlier....kinda weird but nice

Try sending a photo to a gallery........

You will need iLife 08.

Nope, still not there.

Well that's the catch...I do have a .mac mail account set up on mail on my iPhone. Good ded reasoning!

Here comes the... Features you have to pay for!

Here comes the... Features you have to pay for!

Didn't we pay enough for the darn thing. It should have come with a .mac account (at least 2 years free, the same as the AT&T contract). Next will be pay ringtones...

I too do not have iLife '08, but I am showing the option on my iPhone to "send to gallery". As with others who have posted, it tells me I have to configure my .mac account to let wireless devices upload photos.

There will obviously be no posting to a gallery that doesn't exist, and in order to make a gallery, you need the new version of iPhoto from iLife '08. No iLife '08, no posting from an iPhone or otherwise - make sense?

Not if you use iphoneringtonemaker which did not jailbreak my iPhone and did not screw up my update and make me restore like iFuntastic.

My point being you just need a .mac email account.

Well I know that. ;) But, even after adding the account, deleting it, resetting the phone and adding it again - I don't get the option. But, I'm in no rush, it'll probably just appear mysteriously anytime now. :p

Pretty much all Macs cost more than the iPhone and they don't come with free .Mac, so why would the iPhone??
