Do yourself a favour and download Classic Shell if you make the switch. It will solve many UI headaches for those accustomed to the Start menu.
Honestly, I have absolutely zero brand loyalty -- I buy what I think is best at the time. Apple is traditionally overpriced, but the build quality of their laptops is unmatched. MacOS is slightly better than Win 10, but not enough to justify the difference in price (IMO). With minimal tweaking, you can get Win 10 to behave whatever way you like. But tweaking you must do.
In my view, this decision comes down to the importance of build quality. For a desktop, it would be Win 10 hands-down. For a laptop, the answer is less clear. Personally, I'd recommend a refurb of the previous MacBook Pro -- if you don't mind the dated design, that is.
I use Win 10 on my desktop, and I was using a late-2013 MBP, but it recently drank a glass of red wine. I don't think I'm going to replace it with another Apple computer -- simply not worth it.
Win 10 isn't the best, but it's good enough. That's the boring truth.
