Fanboys to the rescue.

Wow, shame on me. That gallon of milk stuff says a lot about your priorities. Who wants a shiny pretty computer to show off at Starbucks? :D

Now, who's REALLY using a notebook all the time ? Students. On a campus, 5 hours of battery life is just laughable.

Double that, Apple, and I'll be a happy customer. We need a day-long battery, that's not so difficult to understand.

And I'm not going Asus, because it's Windows. And not iPad, because I need a keyboard constantly.
Wow, I remember when people where stoked on three hors battery life. I think some people expect much or just over rationalize. Look at the size of it how are you going to get 8 hours and besides if they put a battery that last longer in it you'd just complain about the price being more and only getting 7 hours not 8. ha.. Be happy with what you have and if you don't like something don't buy it. Plain and simple.

Also when I was in college I was not on my laptop all day and that was only a few years ago. If you really are on your laptop every single minute of the day while at your university then you are obviously wasting time on some internet site or something along those lines. And since you are talking about the macbook air there is good chance that you are not a computer major/editor or what not that would lead to you being on your laptop more so then about 5 hours or 3-5 college type courses a day.

Darn me and yes I did just read your first post. Well congratulations and enjoy it. You got me this time! haha

I thought the 13" mbp gets 8hrs battery life under real life conditions. So apple has already a product for the 8hr customers.

In order to differentiate they focussed on size and weight to appeal to a different customer group. Of course there are still other customers who want something a tiny bit larger than the 11" MBA with 10 hrs battery life. Technically possible and would certainly sell. But I guess that is what the 13" MBP will morph into in a few years. The MBA will always be the ultra thin and ultra light computer with the necessary compromises.

Aside of that you are an idiot for the tone of your mails. You could have made your points much friendlier without looking like a spoiled 13 year old who is disappointed in his birthday present.
First, let me offer a word of support for the OP. His post you quoted was directed at me and was posted at a time when the OP was still emotional and angry. Later, though, he cooled off and showed the good judgment to buy an MBA. Unfortunately, he is still getting hammered for the overwrought language he used in some of his earlier posts.

I agree entirely that the current 13 inch MBP already has laudably long battery life. I also agree that the MBAs are directed to a different market than the 13 inch MBP, one in which small size and lightweight are of paramount importance. As nice as the 13 inch MBP is, it still weighs 50 percent more than the 13 inch MBA and nearly twice as much as the 11 inch model. I suspect that the bulk of the weight difference is owed to the larger battery in the 13 inch MBP.

Unfortunately, one just has to live with compromises when buying a new laptop, especially the ultralight variety.
