Same situation with my 6s. Sent it in for its 2nd replacement battery last week. For whatever reason they didn't but instead sent me a new 6s (assumed a refurbished)

I’ve been warned by Apple repair techs that opening up any iPhone to replace the battery carries a risk of wrecking the phone in the process. Your experience validates that.
This is the reason they insist people back up their iPhone before sending it in and turning off Find My.

1st battery replacement problem free. Many, many took advantage of the discounted price at the time. Finally a logical explanation for having to first back up, delist and turn off Find My Phone. Thanks

Just when I thought the battery life in iOS 15.1 is poor, I managed to pull out these numbers on Saturday. Most of usage were under WiFi but I did play YouTube for close to 2 hours and had some GPS activity in Google Maps and Grab apps. Not sure what’s going on. Ever since I updated to 15.1, my 11 PM has not had good battery life even under WiFi, until yesterday. I hope this ain’t a fluke.

I have a 6S Plus on 14.2 (and incidentally a 12PM on 14.2 which has somehow already reached the same battery health but that's another thread) and it's ok at best. It has some sort of fault though because unless it's in Low Power Mode it boot loops - thus the 12PM - and even in LPM it's nowhere near what it was like on ios 12.0.1. May not be a good example because of whatever issue it has, but either way it's not great in spite of the 94% health.

I can confidently say that nobody on this forum will beat my numbers.

  • iPhone 6 Plus. iOS 9.3.5
  • 6 years old on original battery
  • Never charged to 100% (maybe 20 times in 6 years)
  • Never deeply discharged
  • Used every day, all day long for 6 years

Legendary. So kids, this is what battery etiquette yields you in the long haul. Personally, I use the 80-40 method , but never fully tested it as I exchange devices 6-12 month cycles.

Changed the battery of my 11 PM last week and I’ve been blown away by the numbers I’m getting. Check it out below:

...my 12 Pro Max (93%) just passed my 6S Plus (94%) in battery health reporting. Using same charger and routine too. Crazy.

Edit - 92%. Spent 2 days at 93%.

Hey guys, my 6s given to me as a warranty replacement in Jan 2020 with 89% battery health gets me 10 minph{#`%${%&`+'${`%&NO CARRIER")

My iphone6 was not lasting long with moderate use and I read about Apples battery replacement program in '18. I went to the closest Apple Store where they tested it and replaced the battery for $29, it ran well until 1/21 when I replaced the phone. I took my Stepmothers iphone6S to Best Buy and they declined the service because it tested over their 75% health standard.

Thought of starting a thread that shows battery life of older iPhones running the latest iOS. I’m sure there are a few of us who do not upgrade yearly but would like to know how our battery is holding up compared to the rest.

Would appreciate if posters could include their iPhone model, battery capacity, iOS version, brief usage and charging habits on top of a screenshot of the battery usage. I will start the ball rolling!

iPhone 11 Pro Max
iOS 15.0.2
Battery capacity at 90%
Charge to 100% daily from 10pm to 12am before bed

Battery life on the 11 PM hasn’t been stellar for a long time but it seems acceptable so far. YouTube on this occasion was running for 1.5 hours with internal speakers.
You didn’t mention when you bought your device. 🤣

I feel like this phone was a one off, because I have had several other iPhone batteries that did not survive to this level of use. This has been a great phone, so much that I keep avoiding upgrading because there is nothing wrong with it. Screen Shot 2022-01-09 at 7.06.24 AM.png

My 12 Pro Max is at 85% health and is really frustrating. It feels like it lasts half the time it once did but Apple won’t replace it unless it’s below 80%.

Guys, this is about battery life. Not about battery health.

I also posted above, but my Aug ‘19 XR battery is still fine approaching it’s ‘half-life’ (upgrade in 2024?), @96% health, and still seems capable of Apple-spec SOT. My previous 3 iOS devices averaged ~6yrs service life.

I only need ~50%batt/8hrs SOT, so started out cycling 75-25, then 70-20, currently 65-15, and now considering moving to 60-10. (I have a small pocket battery bank that never gets used).

As an off-grid camper, I’m a battery/runtime geek and from the research I’ve seen, the lower the peak & average SoC you can maintain, the better it is for the battery - source1 and source2. I use an custom charge optimization (shortcut automation + smartplug) so it’s no effort.

My launch day 12 Pro Max just slipped to 99% capacity. Coincidentally, my 3 year old Apple Watch 4 is at 99% capacity as well.
