Absolutely agree. Had forgotten Apple Music Classical had launched already, as no presence on the Mac (and I've not yet found a space for the icon on my iPhone Home Screen, so it was languishing in App Library).

Good luck with your game of Home Screen Bomberman to get it where you want it.

there was even a brief time where you didn’t even have to ask and she’d just tell you the name of the song if you activated Siri while something was playing.

i think it got added and then removed during betas a few years ago.
Oh yeah... I remember that era. Feels like a long time ago. But my relationship to time is wonky. When was that again?

Good news. The one thing I wish Shazam could do is ID songs even when you have earphones going, that is listen to what is playing internally. I loaded Shazam before Apple purchased it. In the beginning its instructions were not to good about the setup. For years I tried to use it and it never worked. At one point after Apple had purchased it I blew it out and reloaded it. Magically I had install instructions telling me to allow the app to access my microphone. I don't remember anything like that when I first installed it.

It shocks me how there's so many people that don't know about Shazam and yet they always ask in Youtube comments what X song is in a video when I've hadn't needed to do that anymore since I can just use Shazam
I honestly think most of the people who ask that in comments are more interested in some kind of response/reaction from the content creator than any genuine interest in the song. I'm sure many of them know they could Shazam it or just google the lyrics, but they wan't someone to do a thing for them. I think it's also just copycat behavior. They see more and more people asking that question and feel compelled to do the same for no particular reason.

Lifetime-built Classical / Baroque library resides in Lossless (ALAC) on my mini-PC's iTunes app tied to my high quality but affordable sound system (Onkyo amplifier /Polk Audio speakers -- piped in via an iFi Zen DAC.) All affordable components and two-chanel centric. If I am missing anything, I sure can't tell. Bliss. YouTube points me toward new items of interest on occasson, but the library is enormous and I OWN it...

Sorry, that was a tongue in cheek comment referencing this long standing issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252579068

I have an active sub to Apple Music, but opening from Shazam always prompts me to sub.
There is a weirdness about Shazam. It does not always work as expected from the app. From the App you get the subscribe to Apple Music if it cannot find the track in Apple Music. But the app is actually supposed to be used from the iOS control center. I have it loaded on the Mac but I don't have a microphone hooked up yet so I don't know how is works there.

Can somebody explain why the richest tech company in the world is unable to release an iPad and Mac version of this app simultaneously or in worst case a few weeks or months after the iPhone version?

Especially as that same company is in control of the OS’es and developer tools. And likes to proclaim how easy it is for devs to develop for all platforms at once.

A big disappointment to have to use 2X on an iPad in 2023.

How about Carplay as well?

I wish they would make Shazam work a bit better, the control centre Shazam doesn't always sync with the app version, the create playlist from Shazams is shaky at best

I knew she used be able to do that. I thought I may have been imagining it.

What I wish Shazam would do is ID music when you have earphones on, internally. So many times I hear something I like on YouTube and I want to know what it is but I have earphones on. Right now it can't do that unless you have an external speaker playing.
