I got the incase macbook air sleeve to be used with my new 2nd Gen MBA 13.3. I was a little worried when looking for a sleeve as the new MBA is a little thinner, but thought with the footprint being the same it should fit fine. The incase MBA sleeve is quite expensive when bought directly from Apple/InCase so I grabbed mine off ebay for much less and as Incase are probably going to re-release soon with an 11" version too I would say 3rd party bargains are the best option for picking one of these up.

The design of the case is very simple, no studs or zippers, which was the main thing that attracted me to this model. The quality of materials is excellent with soft stretchy neoprene outer and faux fur lining. The fit is perfect for the new air, it slides in and out easily but is a really good snug fit (as a sleeve should be). It's design requires you to stretch the end piece over your MBA to close the case, this works well and is seconds nature after the first few times you use it.

Protection, is pretty minimal. As you can see the profile of the case keeps the size and weight to a minimum, which is exactly how it should be with a something like the macbook air. It will protect from every day bumps and scratches but would offer little protection in the case of a drop onto a hard floor etc. I would recommend this sleeve for general use, just something to keep your MBA fresh while using round the house etc, or to be used when throwing your MBA in your main bag or backpack.

So all in all, I am pretty pleased with it, can't think of anything I don't like for a negative. I suppose the closing lid may get loose/baggy over extended use, only time will tell I guess.

Fantastic review, thanks so much! I have the very same one coming from a reseller in the UK that I found on eBay who had them in stock at a good price. Both laptop and sleeve should arrive at about the same time, yay! :-D

It's disappointing that these aren't available in stores anymore. I really like these. Hopefully the refresh won't take very long. Hurry it up Incase!

I just called incase customer support. The guy said that they are given lists of new products but as yet there are no sleeves listed for the new Airs. He said to call in two weeks.

nice, but hated the fit

looked every where for this sleeve in black finally found it at my local apple store, excited to put it on, come to find it was way tight!!! yeah it's snug, but putting it on and taking it off was a total pain! That flap feels like its gonna tear off, pulling it over the edge of the laptop.

returned it in a day for something else, don't get me wrong I like it, but the fit something else.

I find it really easy to put on and off, you just slip your finger between the MBA and the flap. I think the fit is perfect.

Short crappy quality movie of how easy it is to put the incase sleeve on the new 13 MBA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQXeWM-WJ3w
Mine was no where that easy to put on, I noticed you have an older stock of that sleeve.

Mine that I bought had the exterior INCASE tag stitched flat, like all the newer incase bags. My suspicion is that they revised that sleeve and made it tighter??? I got mine from the Apple store, and you folks know how fast things turn around in there... so I would assume that mine was a newer rev of that sleeve.

also mine came in a sturdy clear plastic package, not the paper ones you are used to seeing.

Hmm, that's interesting. So your branding looked different to this?

I think he means the official incase for 2nd gen Macbook Air.

Oh right, new colours and packaging maybe, can't see them changing the manufacturing for the tiny difference in thickness. Unless they are taking the opportunity for a completely new design.

Got a bit excited then at the thought of an official Apple case :D

Yep, the black one I picked up at the local Apple Store is extremely tight and has the Incase logo on the outside of the side opposite to the opening, not on the side with the opening as your picture/movie shows. The opening bows open when the Air is inside because the case is too small. Guess I'll bring it back...

Bummer, maybe they made it tighter to combat stretching over time, or maybe it's slipped through QC under tolerance.
