I have 24-hour clock in my system settings.

In one of my Shortcuts I’m prompted to pick a time with a date picker (I’ve removed date, so just hour:minute) and this being an alarm of sorts it’s important that it outputs correct time. This picked time is sent to my server and in addition creates an alarm on my phone. However, if I pick say, 10.30, the night before the time is 22.30 then the alarm is set to 22.30 that same night. The time sent to my server is correct; 10.30.

Why might that be?

You might want to post this in the Shortcuts help thread, not here.

Hey! I have created a shortcut where it asks me "Where do you want to go?", where I pick between A contact or an event. If I pick the to a contact the contact gets a text saying "Hey. I am heading over to your place now. I will be there at ETA" and Apple Map opens to give me directions.

However, I would also like the option to share my location with the contact for the next hour, is this possible? As far as I can see, I can only share the current location.

I don’t think this is possible yet

Since we are into the Holiday season we got our Christmas tree up and I bought the iHome smart plug. It’s in a separate HomeKit group and I’ve got shortcuts for turning the tree lights on and off! This is perhaps my favorite thing to be able to tell Siri to turn them on or off before bedtime.

Hi guys,

Is there a way to run an HomeKit automation ONLY IF a specific clock alarm is on?

Every two weeks I work very early in the morning and I have to wake up by 5am. I've created an HomeKit automation to turn ON the lights in my room at 4h55am. The thing is... at the end of the week I would need to turn OFF the automation because the next week I will not need to wake up so early.
Turning it ON only if the alarm clock for 5am is ON would be great.

The only thing I found is a way to turn on the lights if the alarm clock is activated... but it does it immediately. Not at the tive of the given alarm...

I appreciate if anyone as a potential solution.
Thanks!

I got the WeMo Smart Plug 9 months ago for exactly this use! No more reaching around scratchy branches and knocking ornaments off for me!

I’m not feeling this one....why is there something with the IP address as the first step?

Also what is wrong is swiping down for the do not disturb mode?

The first step is to determine which actions should execute: if IP > 0 then this means is a valid IP, so your device is connected to internet.
I find it quite useful. I use it all the time.

Has anyone been able to turn on/off/change Harmony Hub remote Activities with Siri?

I think since Harmony appeared in Shortcuts, you can only turn on the App.

I’ve tried using IFTTT, but I think they dropped Harmony support...it never finds the Hub...

Edit,
Once Shortcuts let’s you record screen taps, & attach that sequence to a voice command, then this App becomes truly accessible to everyone & it’s possibilities would be endless. Not that it’s not great now, but there are blockers to getting things done how you want.

Can’t be done yet. Shortcuts cannot natively act on events or locations. However, you can set one up to do what you want and then create a one word Siri command to activate it.

Thank you for your response. But by any chance do you know how to do, what you are explaining?

Hi,

Is it possible to get a push notification automatically every time Apple Music plays a song?
Thanks.

This will do it for the current song but Shortcuts can’t do it automatically as each song loads. Apple has limited it (for now) to manual triggering.

Since I can’t post links (they aren’t working), I’ll post screenshots of how this works (I apologize for not stitching them but Tailor is thrown off by screenshots that are similar)

Can you give us a USAGE example, please?

[doublepost=1547219574][/doublepost]DOH! Never mind. I figured it out. While using the Apple Maps app and you have already entered in a destination to someone's house, say "John Smith's Home", just start the flow and say "John Smith, home" and as long as you have a "home" entry for a contact named John Smith, it will create a new message and put a text like the following:

"I am currently at <current location> and will be there in about <number> <time units (secs, mins, hours, etc.)>"

ex.

"I am currently at 123 Any st. and will be there in about 30 mins"

Nice shortcut!

Any way to get Siri to continue and actually press SEND on the composed message?

Nice shortcut!

iTunes Remote for the Mac

I've disliked Apple's Remote app ever since it debuted on the iPhone. The long load times and the extra clicks the user is forced to do before it can be used has discouraged me from using it for years. So I’ve created a replacement. It’s not as pretty as the Remote app, but it’s much, much faster and way more convenient. Although this is a Siri shortcut, it's designed to be used without dictation and to make as little noise as possible. You can use it to play music, movies, and TV shows. To stop a TV show or movie from playing simply press "Next" or "Previous."

My other iTunes Siri shortcuts can be found here https://techheroesinc.blogspot.com/2018/11/control-itunes-on-your-mac-with-siri.html

"Any way to get Siri to continue and actually press SEND on the composed message?"

On the "Send Message" action, deselect the "Show When Run" button.

Also, the message wil only send automatically if it is sending only text. If it is sending any file, including a text file, it will wait for you to push send instead of send automatically.

Is there a way to play music from a playlist that isnt “purchased”?

I have a number of playlists from music i have imported from cds, and would like to select one as I leave for work, or when I leave work for home.

But everytime i try to create one, i can only choose from the “purchased” playlist.

Thanks.
