Thanks for the quick reply everyone!

I think I'll order one tonight :) Or maybe go into town tomorrow and pick one up...

£60 is a lot of money though! D: Suppose it's what you have to pay for quality equipment that's not going to break after 18 months! It'll be cheaper in the long run.

If you have a Computer Exchange ( CEX ) near you you might want to check there. They often have brand new sealed ones and they currently sell them for £50. It's not much of a savings but at least it's £10 less.

Wow, somebody drank the kool-aid. Sheesh.
If there's Kool-aid count me in!

Since buying a MagicTrackpad I have no desire
to go back to a mouse either.

Well, whatever you are drinking is as out-of-date as that unoriginal, anti-Apple drivel. You should get some new material. Just because someone gives a positive opinion of a product from Apple does not mean they "drink the kool-aid". Good grief!

And yes, get a Magic Trackpad.

I think it totally depends on what you do, if your just someone who does general work like surfing the web and watching videos, then yeah Magic Trackpad will replace a mouse for you, but if your a web designer like myself, or a gamer, or if you rely on accuracy, then mouse is the only way to go..

Lion = a lot of multitouch.
a lot of multitouch = magic trackpad.
therefore, by the transitive property,
Lion = Magic Trackpad

So buy magic trackpad for my MacBook even though the MacBook has a trackpad? I'm currently using a mouse but with lion releasing, should I get an "extra" trackpad?

Hmmm...

Don't know if it is totally necessary to buy a Magic
Trackpad for a Macbook that has a trackpad....

....especially at the $60+ cost factor of these gadgets...

...however, if I had the expendable cashflow, I would
certainly buy one just because I think it allows more
finger room and a more pleasing tracking experience than
the pad on the Macbook.

As someone who has a Macbook and a Magic Trackpad on an iMac, I don't think there's any point to getting another trackpad for the Macbook. The one on the Macbook is more than sufficient.

Yes, clearly I hate Apple with my AMAZING new 15" MBP with it's i7, SSD, and high-res screen.

Seriously though, I actually hate bad products. Of which any Apple monitor or input device is one. You couldn't pay me to use that POS.

Thanks for the advice. I might just go with a magic mouse for home use then.

Let me just add that I am *so so* glad I asked for a Trackpad for Christmas! Seems to have paid off, looking at all these reports!
:)

PS I also use it more than my magic mouse so make of that what you will...

That's exactly why I'm gonna stay with my Logitech Performance Mouse MX. Other than pinch to zoom, I really don't think Lion is gonna require a trackpad.

Were you able to get it to run properly? I have the GM and the mouse sucks compared to SL. They don't have updated drivers yet.

Since my MBP is old and doesn't have a multitouch trackpad, the Magic TrackPad made a ton of sense. I also use it while sitting on the couch, the mouse doesn't work well on the arm but the TrackPad does.

It did take some getting used to, but so far I really like it. Just wish I could do a CMD+Click on it instead of having to actually use the CMD key.

Sorry, I don't have any version of Lion on my iMac. I most likely won't update my OS until Lion hits the App Store.
