I currently have a 1.6Ghz Powermac G5. I can sell it on ebay for 800-900. Should I do it and get the new intel imac?

Depends on what you actually do with it, but I'd be inclined to say no. Rosetta isn't that great, and you lose the ability to run any Classic programs you may still have. I've used the 20" Intel iMacs some, and I definitely prefer my G5 Power Mac.

He said he has PowerMac, not iMac.

I say keep it as long as you can, its still an awesome machine, then get rev.B Mac Pro (or rev. A if you cant wait ;))

Of course if you can live without a computer for a t least a month, sell it now and get new Mac when they come out. You will get more money from selling G5 now, but if you use it to make a living, keep it.

I agree- I bought a new Power Mac G5 this past April because I really needed it. Your PM is far more upgradeable RAM-wise than an iMac. Keep it. I won't be buying an Intel-based Mac Pro for a long time. I need my machines for work and I need them to be as fast as possible with no complications. I usually wait for rev Bs or Cs so I know the kinks are worked out. Even though I knew the Mac Pros were coming out, I still bought this machine. I don't have the time or patience to deal with a new model machine, especially when the apps I use won't work quickly on it. Trust me, the pro world isn't going Intel anytime soon. The company I work for still uses Classic OS 9 apps for some things. :(

My first Intel Mac will be a white MacBook Rev C. :)

Hopefully they'll get a video card by that time

Bingo. That was the reason I didnt sell my iBook and grab a MacBook. But I have more patience with a laptop not having certain functionality than I do with my home workstation. It'll be far easier for me to get a MacBook when the time comes rather than a Mac Pro. :)
