I don't know where your looking but a new iPhone SE 64GB is a lot more than £/$100 extra over an Amazon Renewed iPhone 8 64GB with a years warranty for £175. The 64GB SE on Amazon is £395 brand new.Too much risk when buying refurbs from Amazon. I can understand people who are on a tight budget might consider them, but just try and save up the extra £\$100 ish and get a new iphone SE if you can. Less headache.
The iPhone 8 that we received from Amazon looks and feels like a new device, but it did ship with a non-factory charger and Lightning cable.
Apple refurb devices typically have the complete casing, batteries and glass replaced. They are not just re-boxed used returns that are given a spit shine. They are also thoroughly tested by Apple techs. Why is Apple's own refurb store so limited in terms of choice and stock?
I always buy iPhones from Apple's refurb store. Every time.iPhones are one of those products I definitely purchase new. Every time.
Apple Refurb's are great buys with the only drawback being you have to wait for them to become available.I always buy iPhones from Apple's refurb store. Every time.
So in other words, it's in the condition a new phone would be in after a two weeks use. I would buy everything I own from Amazon if I could... their customer service is second to none. Apple is extremely nit picky about returns, warranty and repairs.

This is an important reality that many fail to realize or just plain ignore. Whether you agree with Amazon or not, there are times that for the sake of expedience for yourself and others, Amazon is the safe (or in some cases only) route.
