Damn, that’s amazing. I wonder if they have any on eBay.
A quick search says that there a ton on there :D

Fair warning, those keyboards tend to be a bit mushy these days. And mushy or not, they're certainly DNA collectors like @Amethyst1 said. The ice cube tray keyboards are quite possibly some of the most disgusting peripherals I've ever had the displeasure of disassembling and cleaning for other people :D

Oh, that’s an absolute shame. :’( i have been wanting a white keyboard peripheral that’s raised up and tactile because it’s enjoyable, but all of the keyboards ive checked out are just super… loud. I want some sort of quietly enjoyable keyboard that is super raised. I only eat near my work keyboard and can push it away, but the amount of dead hair/dust is crazy even then. Gotta shake it out every 1-2wks, but I tested out the thin modern Apple keyboard and it felt like garbage because there weren’t any real tactile responses to my keystrokes.

I have used the bluetooth version of this keyboard for many years and I can confirm that this one indeed feels mushy. Sometimes it feels like I’m pressing the keys down in cold butter or on wet moss. If you want tactile, you should just get a real mechanical keyboard. I own a few and yes, they are loud. Especially if you‘d get blue switches. But it’s worth it for me :D

I took the time to take apart a few a1048 keyboards and wash/clean them. Its not too bad but takes time. Gets all the crap out anyhow. If you do end up getting one, I highly recommend lubricating the keys prior to reassembling there keyboard. Feels fantastic afterwards (as good as a membrane kb can anyways) and without the looby-dooby, they stick terribly.

FYI: My white 24 & 17" iMacs both came with white a1048s as did my 2007 aluminum 20" imac. At some point however, Apple did transition to the A1243 and those slay. As much as the chicklet keys (that Apple has been using in their portables) are absolutely horrendous, the A1243 is fast and comfortable. Same thing with its shorty BT Magic keyboard the A1314 - a surprisingly comfortable kb to use and absolutely worth the 10-15 bucks if you can find one at the thrift for example.

If you are planning on spending some big money however, I would absolutely take the advice above and pick up something nice with quality mechanical switches vs overpaying for a new Apple anything keyboard.

I have done some keyboards too, and it really is a teadious task sometimes. Got a picture of the older Extended white Keyboard. It took hours to do that one. There were some hidden apple secrets too to give you some thinking along the road. But now it's clean and works ok. It still is not white, but "beige" because of excess ultraviolet I guess. I have read about some whitening procedures of worn plastics, but have not tried them.

And to not be totally OT again, here's another one pic of a saved iMac 24".
On my Ikea extendable kitchen table. The table is perfect for the iMac with a leg to perform some repairs.
