Optical and laser are different?

Optical and laser are different. Laser mouse is more accurate and less error prone and should work even on glass surface, which is not the case with optical mouse.

Razer mouse

I use the white professional version of the Razer gaming mouse, which uses an infrared beam and is exceptionally responsive and accurate. It's great for playing games, and is so good that other mouses feel sluggish now. The ergonomics are great, it looks good, and even though I've always been partial to the Apple one button (tried the Mighty Mouse too) I haven't been able to go back.

I 2nd this. It's not white and it's not BT, but is is an amazing mouse. It is great to gaming too.

Can I 3rd this? I've got the Logitech MX1000 Laser. Love it. Feels great. Lots of buttons and the recharging LED's are nice to have. NO, it's not BT and YES it does require the dock/recharger but it's still slick. Saw a new Logitech keyboard and mouse combo that is white, supposedly for Mac's. The mouse looks identical to the MX1000...think it's a laser too....but in white and it's usb I believe. Anyway, recommend the MX1000. Check it out. Cheers

No, you can't. But you can certainly "tenth" it.

I might just give up on Bluetooth and get the MX1000. I have one at work and I love it.

One more thing...

Has anyone had any luck with Logitech's software for the MX1000? I installed it onces and I hated it. I use it for my trackball since it's the only way to enable the scrolling buttons.

Can anyone put a BT mouse up against the logitech? I'd love to have a true bluetooth mouse that has its own recharging stand. Why is that so hard for them to figure out. :)

Well Logitech figured it out. The MX1000 is still much more popular though. It's going to get hard to be able to find this model.

I just went to the Amazon site and read the buyer's reviews. Seems pretty good. My G5 has BT and I've always wanted to use it but just never found the right mouse. That's why I went with the MX1000. Pretty much wireless if you don't count the recharger. Anyway, the two disadvantages of this BT mouse are: no charge indicating LEDs (minor but the MX1000 still is better in this regard. BTW, my MX1000 seems to stay charged for a couple of weeks and thats with a 9 yr old who uses/abuses my G5:( ) and no ON/OFF switch. Granted, my MX1000 will sleep when not in use and I don't have to turn it off but I CAN if I want to. I imagine that this new BT Logitech probably "sleeps" on it's own but if you want to use it with a laptop and travel with it ON/OFF seems mandatory. OK, so you don't have a laptop. Still if I want to turn it off the MX1000 you can, the MX900 you can't. One reviewer says that to turn the MX900 off he reverses a battery when traveling. Well, whatever works. Again, pretty cursory on my part but it seems my MX1000 has more buttons along with a "tilt" scroll wheel. Hey, we ALL know that bigger is better and more is also better. At least that's what my wife accuses me of thinking all the time:D . Anyway, looks like the MX1000 or the MX900 are excellent candidates. I'm still in the MX1000 camp though. Cheers

the MX1000 is minging in my opinion. far better to stick with a good mouse instead of one with more buttons than atoms.

plus, why do these big manufacturers have such a fetish for mice that are a complete arse for a left hander to use?

i love my mighty mouse, after the inital shock of a right button that 'didn't work'.

I might go with a the Logitech LX7. I like the power switch on it and it uses AA's. I have a TON of AA's. I know Lithium-Ion is cool and I do love it. But when you have 32 AA's to go through in 4 years and you can save money on products w/o rechargable batteries you kind of go with the AA ones.

that mouse is PC only. I saw it advertised for something like $50 cdn on Boxing Day last year and went down to Futureshop to pick it up, only to read the box and see. I almost cried.

edit: read the reviews. wow, I just missed a bargain didn't I? anyone know if it works properly in its intended role as a Bluetooth receiver on a Mac? I made the mistake of ordering my G5 without BT.

I use my Wacom tablet's mouse most of the time, but since its mousing area isn't very big I use my older Logitech Cordless Optical mouse when I'm gaming. it takes AA batteries, which is why I don't use it all the time. I can't remember exactly but it seems to me that on alkalines it'll last 2 weeks of heavy usage before you have to get a new set. the rechargables I got lasted about a week at first, but after over a year of using the same 2 sets they won't hold a charge for more than about half an hour.

I'd also recommend the MX900, my sister has the corded version and loves it, as do I. the extra buttons are very nice.
